Principal Technical Program Manager
We are looking to hire a Principal Technical Program Manager to join Cloud Operations + Innovation (CO+I). CO+I is the organization behind one of the world's largest cloud infrastructures, responsible for powering all Microsoft online products and services as well as enabling Microsoft's "Cloud First" mission. Our team is focused on smart growth, operational efficiency, and delivering a trusted, world‑class experience to customers and partners globally. We are looking for passionate, high‑energy technical program management professionals to help us achieve that mission.
If you want to have a fundamental impact on how Microsoft’s cloud is deployed and operated worldwide, be part of one of the most strategically critical teams at Microsoft, and bring strong technical and business acumen, leadership, creativity, and out‑of‑the‑box thinking - this role is for you.
In alignment with our Microsoft values, we are committed to cultivating an inclusive work environment for all employees to positively impact our culture every day.
Responsibilities
- Supply SWAT rapid response — Steady-state planning through S&OP owns the plan; this role owns the gaps, where plan and reality diverge faster than the monthly cycle can absorb. Create supply optionality and fungibility across regions and capacity types, resolve stranded or at-risk assets, capitalize on opportunistic power deals, run scenario drills, and triage escalations, including rapid-turn asks from the SLT and Corporate Strategy.
- Strategy from the ground up — Own the end-to-end development of new data center strategies (regional, metro, or capability-level) from problem framing through executive decision, defining the question, building the analysis, and landing the recommendation.
- Technical + infrastructure breadth — Translate across data center infrastructure (power, land, network, construction, capacity), technology roadmaps, and business requirements to shape options that are technically grounded and operationally feasible.
- Financial rigor — Build the business case: model capital and operating cost, lead-time, and risk trade-offs with Finance, and frame investment decisions in terms leadership can act on.
- Stakeholder management — Orchestrate a broad set of partners across Engineering, Finance, Supply Chain, Planning, Execution and Operations to align on a shared direction and resolve competing priorities.
- Influencing for change — Drive adoption of new strategies and operating models through conviction and evidence, challenging the status quo constructively and bringing senior leaders along.
- Program leadership — Convert strategy into an executable program: define milestones, governance, and success metrics, and drive it forward with clear ownership and decisive escalation when needed.
