Your role
Key responsibilities in your new role
- Define and evolve verification and validation strategies for Ethernet Switch firmware, covering PTP, MKA/MACsec, Base Firmware, HAL, Layer 2 switching features, and Functional Safety mechanisms
- Architect, develop, maintain, and continuously enhance automated test frameworks, validation environments, test architectures, and automation concepts to improve test coverage, scalability, maintainability, and execution efficiency
- Design and execute automated functional, integration, system, interoperability, reliability, endurance, robustness, and fault-injection tests, while validating firmware behavior under network topology changes, link failures, device resets, failover scenarios, recovery mechanisms, and abnormal operating conditions
- Define and implement verification concepts for Functional Safety requirements, including safety mechanisms, diagnostics, fault handling, and safety-related software features, while supporting ISO 26262 compliance and safety verification activities
- Analyze network traffic, protocol traces, logs, safety evidence, and test results to identify complex issues, perform root-cause analysis, and ensure high-quality firmware releases and feature enhancements through regression testing and release readiness assessments
- Collaborate closely with firmware developers, system architects, safety engineers, and cross-functional project teams, contributing to technical reviews, customer discussions, management reviews, and continuous improvements in validation infrastructure, toolchains, and development processes
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to test engineers while owning verification activities in line with ASPICE and Functional Safety processes, ensuring traceability, test coverage, quality evidence, and release readiness of Ethernet Switch firmware
Your profile
Qualifications and skills to help you succeed
- Bachelor's or master’s degree in computer science, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field, combined with 8+ years of experience in software testing, firmware verification, and validation of embedded or networking products
- Proven expertise in Ethernet Switch firmware verification and validation, including the definition of test strategies, verification methodologies, architectures, and validation approaches for complex embedded software systems
- Extensive hands-on experience developing and maintaining automated test frameworks and validation environments, covering test automation, regression testing, fault injection, robustness and reliability testing, CI/CD integration, and scalable validation architectures
- Strong knowledge of Ethernet Switch technologies, embedded networking systems, Layer 2 switching, networking protocols, packet-based communication, TSN, VLAN, QoS, traffic management, PTP/gPTP, MKA/MACsec, Base Firmware, and HAL.
- Experience with Automotive Ethernet technologies and ASPICE-based automotive projects, including diagnostics, monitoring, fault recovery, networking feature validation, and Functional Safety verification in compliance with ISO 26262
- Expert-level proficiency in Python-based test automation and embedded networking verification tools, with practical experience using PyTest, Linux, Wireshark, network traffic generators/analyzers, Git, Jenkins, and GitLab CI
- Strong analytical, debugging, and root-cause analysis skills, excellent communication and mentoring capabilities, fluent English proficiency (German is a plus), and a strong interest in leveraging AI-powered and Agentic AI solutions to enhance test automation, coverage analysis, and defect triaging
