Overview

Job Title: Principal Software Engineer Manager

We are the Windows Servicing and Delivery (WSD) organization, our core mission is to keep customers protected and productive by delivering seamless and timely Windows updates to our customers in existing and future versions of Windows. This work demands solving complex challenges in the Windows operating systems and building mission-critical services and infrastructure. In addition to updates, we empower commercial and enterprise customers with products and solutions to deploy and secure their devices effectively.

Our team is building a best in industry analytics system that handles massive device and data scale. With over a billion devices running Microsoft products, a compelling amount of data is generated and processed every day. This system is the data processing and analytics foundation for measuring quality and usage for some of Microsoft’s biggest products. Our service relies on top of Azure Big Data technologies such as Azure HDI, Azure Synapse, Azure Storage, Azure Data Factory. Our team provides big data platforms and tools that power data driven scenarios and analytics across Microsoft teams.

Responsibilities
  • Influence and align the product vision by collaborating with partners, product management and engineering teams across geos.
  • Managing a team of high-caliber Software Engineers, ensuring project and development excellence and technical leadership.
  • Create a solid team culture of engineering excellence, customer passion, collaboration, diversity, and inclusion. And of course, having fun too!
  • Design and deliver on the vision of the next generation of the Big Data Analytics System and opportunity to work with the latest cloud services.
  • Building a data processing platform for transforming data into usable and meaningful form to enable our partners while engaging with engineering, data science and data integration teams across Microsoft.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
    • OR equivalent experience.

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • 12+ years of experience in software development in distributed system.
  • 6+ years of experience in big data domain.
  • 4+ years of experience managing a software team.
  • Good communication, collaboration, and planning skills with demonstrated commitment to the success of others.
  • Desire to manage diverse, inclusive, and collaborative software teams.
  • Passion for building highly scalable, reliable, distributed services.
  • Experience with Azure Cloud Services.
