ZoomInfo is where careers accelerate. We move fast, think boldly, and empower you to do the best work of your life. You’ll be surrounded by teammates who care deeply, challenge each other, and celebrate wins. With tools that amplify your impact and a culture that backs your ambition, you won’t just contribute. You’ll make things happen–fast.

We are looking for a Principal Software Engineer to serve as a senior technical force multiplier across three pillars of our Platform Engineering organization: Integrations, Workflows & Orchestration, and Data Management. Together, these teams own the connectors, orchestration, and data quality capabilities that push ZoomInfo's data product into the systems our customers run every day.

This is a hands-on, high-impact individual contributor role. You will embed with whichever team needs the most help at a given time. That might mean a major initiative, a stubborn area of tech debt, a reliability problem, or a chance to grow into new territory. You will lead through influence, not authority. You will set technical direction, raise the engineering bar, and work with Managers, engineers, and Product to turn ambiguity into well-architected, shipped solutions.

You will report directly to the Senior Director of Software Engineering and work closely with three Engineering Leaders and their teams.

The Three Pillars You'll Support

  • Integrations: Native connectors and APIs that link ZoomInfo to CRM, marketing automation, sales engagement, data warehouse, and BI platforms (Salesforce, HubSpot, Marketo, Outreach, Snowflake, and others), processing millions of records daily.
  • Workflows & Orchestration: The engine behind lead-to-account matching and multi-step, event-driven business processes triggered by buying signals and business rules.
  • Data Management: Deduplication, standardization, enrichment, continuous verification, and GDPR/CCPA compliance that keep customer data clean, current, and trustworthy.

What You'll do:

  • Embed with Integrations, Workflows & Orchestration, and Data Management teams on a rotating basis, writing production-quality code and unblocking the hardest technical problems
  • Define and evolve scalable, fault-tolerant, event-driven architecture on Java/Spring Boot, Node.js/NestJS, Kafka, and workflow orchestration platforms such as Temporal or Google Cloud Workflows
  • Lead response and root-cause analysis for high-severity incidents and systemic reliability issues
  • Drive platform modernization by consolidating integration patterns, re-architecting legacy systems, and improving observability
  • Establish best practices for idempotency, retries, error handling, state management, API and webhook versioning, and workflow design
  • Shape multi-quarter roadmaps with the Senior Director, Engineering Managers, and Product, bringing technical feasibility, sizing, and risk into prioritization
  • Lead build-vs-buy evaluations and author architecture decision records and design docs that guide teams over multiple quarters
  • Mentor engineers at all levels and serve as a senior interviewer to raise the hiring bar

What you bring:

Must-Have

  • 12+ years of software engineering experience, including significant time in senior or staff-level roles, with a track record of technical leadership across multiple teams
  • Deep experience designing and operating backend distributed systems at scale, with strong proficiency in Java (Spring Boot) and/or Node.js (NestJS)
  • Experience building or owning integrations or connectors with CRM, marketing automation, sales engagement, or data warehouse platforms (Salesforce, HubSpot, Marketo, Snowflake, or similar)
  • Demonstrated ability to influence without authority by aligning teams, driving decisions, and earning trust across engineering, product, and business stakeholders
  • Strong track record leading platform modernization, reliability, and observability initiatives, with excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presenting to executive leadership

Preferred

  • Hands-on experience with event-driven architectures and streaming technologies such as Kafka, and workflow orchestration platforms such as Temporal, Google Cloud Workflows, or Airflow
  • Working knowledge of data quality practices: deduplication, standardization, enrichment, and GDPR/CCPA compliance
  • Experience with API strategy, webhooks, partner/ISV integration programs, and no-code/low-code workflow builders
  • Experience with multi-cloud environments (AWS, GCP), build-vs-buy evaluations, vendor management, and SaaS cost optimization
