Oracle Health’s Clinical Excellence and Insights (CEI) team brings clinical practice and informatics expertise to the development, validation, release readiness, and ongoing improvement of healthcare products. Team members work with Product Management, engineering, UX, AI, and customer-facing teams to translate real-world care delivery into clinically meaningful products suited to US and international markets.

Each Clinical Subject Matter Expert supports assigned products and workflows, contributing to clinical scope, risk assessment, hazard documentation, validation, customer readiness, and post-release learning. The role also contributes to clinical ontology, terminology, and knowledge structures that support accurate clinical meaning and information use. Product Management retains ownership of product roadmap and release decisions, informed by clinical SME assessments and recommendations.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Product Development and Workflow Design

  • Serve as the clinical subject matter expert for assigned products and workflows, maintaining ongoing collaboration with Product Management across delivery milestones.
  • Define intended clinical use, users, care settings, workflow variants, handoffs, and product boundaries, including normal conditions, fault conditions, and foreseeable misuse.
  • Translate evidence-based practice, clinician reasoning, customer feedback, and regional requirements into actionable product, UX, AI, and content recommendations.
  • Review designs and requirements for clinical validity, usability, workflow fit, and global relevance. Inform roadmap priorities and coordinate clinical input across product teams.

Clinical Safety Risk Management and Release Readiness

  • Identify and assess clinical hazards, workflow risks, and potential patient safety impacts associated with product design, AI-enabled functionality, changes, and deployment.
  • Document, review, and update clinical hazard logs within assigned scope, including foreseeable harms, risk assessments, proposed mitigations, supporting evidence, and status.
  • Collaborate with product, engineering, and designated safety stakeholders to assess whether mitigations are clinically meaningful and operationally feasible. Track actions and escalate unresolved concerns.
  • Support release management through clinical impact assessments, readiness reviews, release validation, and communication of limitations, unresolved risks, and adoption barriers. Provide recommendations to accountable decision-makers.

Customer Readiness and Enablement

  • Create, clinically review, and maintain release documentation, job aids, resource guides, videos, FAQs, demonstration scripts, training content, and pilot materials as products evolve.
  • Support product workgroups, community calls, customer roundtables, reference discussions, and recurring internal communications to prepare customer-facing teams for upcoming and newly released capabilities.
  • Collaborate with Customer Success, Consulting, Adoption, Sales, Learning, and support teams to address workflow questions and communicate clinical scope, product changes, and readiness needs.
  • Represent Oracle Health in customer discussions, demonstrations, webinars, and industry events. Contribute clinical expertise to customer evidence, value stories, and academic or industry publications.

Product Monitoring Value Evidence and Continuous Improvement

  • Define clinical value and adoption measures with Product Management and relevant teams. Gather early adopter usage, customer questions, workflow concerns, and feedback themes.
  • Translate post-release findings into recommendations for product improvement, hazard-log updates, mitigation review, enablement materials, and future roadmap decisions.
  • Develop customer value stories and reusable insights that communicate product impact using available evidence.

Clinical Knowledge Ontology and Interoperability

  • Collaborate with terminology, data science, and engineering teams on content governance, clinical explainability, and appropriate information use across products.
  • Represent global workflows and documentation needs, supporting interoperability and consideration of country-specific terminology, data models, and health system variation.

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of clinical practice or health IT experience, with demonstrated understanding of care delivery and clinical workflows. Clinical licensure or professional certification preferred, such as RN, MD, or PharmD.

  • Ability to identify and document clinical risks, assess workflow impacts, contribute to validation, and communicate concerns and recommendations clearly.
  • Working familiarity with clinical ontologies and terminologies such as SNOMED CT, LOINC, RxNorm, and ICD, and interoperability standards such as HL7 and FHIR, including awareness of regional variation.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, documentation, and collaboration skills across clinical, technical, product, and customer stakeholders.
