Principal Data Center Engineer
Key
Responsibilities
Infrastructure Design and Development-Capacity Delivery:
-Delivers infrastructure capacity for Oracle Cloud.
-Contributes to collaboration with Site Selection,
Design & Construction, and DC Engineering Operations to ensure on-time
delivery of expansion capacity in OCI datacenters globally.
-Contributes to the delivery of capacity across
cloud offerings.
-Collaborates with hardware development teams to
enable and automate capacity planning tools, real-time observability, and
infrastructure monitoring services (e.g., through platform characterization).
Infrastructure Design and Development-Infrastructure Development:
-Designs data center critical infrastructure for
Oracle Cloud.
-Collaborates with colocation providers and
internal stakeholders to deliver project design criteria and develop Basis of
Design.
-Partners with hardware development teams to drive
the design direction/definition of roadmap, and drive concepts onto roadmap and
into OCI fleet.
-Collaborates with the hardware development, data
center design, and construction teams to ensure seamless transition from
architecture to implementation.
-Develops and manages advanced cooling solutions.
Innovation:
-Contributes to the research of new designs,
materials, and construction methods for data center equipment and related
components, including site and building.
-Participates in the identification of and monitors
the need for new tools to improve the quality of data and analytics.
-Contributes to the evaluation of new power and
advanced cooling technologies that enable the delivery of artificial
intelligence (AI) products and other technologies driving up density and
performance in data centers.
-Participates in influencing the development of
optimal components and solutions for future OCI fleet requirements by partners
(e.g., technology providers and design partners).
Innovation-Patent Generation:
-Contributes to the identification of
opportunities to generate intellectual property to help strengthen OCI’s
position as a leader in Cloud Computing.
Quality Assurance-Documentation:
-Contributes to the review and maintenance of data
center infrastructure site documentation (e.g., floor plans, rack elevations,
cable matrices).
-Participates in reviewing and evaluating Requests
for Information (RFI), Requests for Proposals (RFP) and RFP, and Requests for
Qualification (RFQ) submittals.
-Contributes to the development of OCI data center
facilities requirements documentation.
Quality Assurance:
-Evaluates products.
-Follows quality benchmarks for new sites,
regions, and/or deployments.
-Partners with colocation providers to ensure
requirements are met.
Quality Assurance-Standard Development/Maintenance:
-Contributes to implementing updates to design
standards and specifications for consistency, maximum system reliability and
optimal facility utilization.
-Adheres to global data center infrastructure
standards.
-Follows whitespace design standards.
Thermal Management-Thermal Management Solutions:
-Contributes to partnership cross-functionally
(e.g., data center design, construction, mechanical/electrical engineering
teams) to ensure the provision of optimized, scalable cooling solutions, as
well as thermal solutions optimized for the entire stack.
-Aligns with power and cooling standards (e.g.,
input voltage, rack density, heat rejection, power consumption) for OCI shapes
throughout data center fleet.
Thermal Management-Thermal Testing, Simulation, and Reviews:
-Contributes to the review of thermal simulation
models from partners to identify risks and improve efficiency.
Thermal Management-Thermal Design:
-Aligns OCI thermal hardware design and data
center physical infrastructure with minimal oversight.
-Participates in collaboration with
multifunctional engineering groups to deliver hardware and data center sites
that meet the associated thermal specifications.
-Contributes to collaboration with firmware and
controls engineering teams to create robust thermal control and monitoring
systems.

-Manages and coordinates moderately complex tasks,
monitoring timelines and deliverables to ensure timely completion and adherence
to requirements for a moderately-sized project or initiative. Efficiently
delegates, monitors, and prioritizes work across multiple projects, providing
technical oversight and adjusting plans to address shifts in resources or
timelines.

-Collaborates across the organization to align on
expectations and achieve shared objectives. Leverages understanding of business
leaders, stakeholders, and/or customers to ensure proposed solutions meet their
