Principal Associate, Social Media Strategist, Talent Marketing (Hybrid)
The Talent Marketing team educates prospective talent on life at Capital One—our culture, values, and commitment to changing banking for good. We are seeking a Social Media Strategist to evolve our presence by bridging strategic vision with tactical execution.
You will own our channel strategy, translating our culture into impactful social narratives while overseeing content planning and optimization. This role requires a balance of long-term planning and hands-on management: you will execute organic and paid campaigns across platforms like LinkedIn and Instagram, ensuring our content is discoverable via traditional and AI-driven search (Generative Engine Optimization). We are looking for a strategic communicator who excels at translating complex insights into actionable growth, managing multi-platform workstreams, and maintaining a consistent brand voice.
In this role you will:
- Drive our social media evolution by transitioning from standard publishing to an audience-first strategy that adapts to changing digital behaviors.
- Translate complex social landscapes—including platform trends, performance data, and paid media insights—into actionable strategic recommendations that refine engagement and audience growth.
- Serve as a strategic advisor to Talent Marketing leadership, proposing and implementing data-backed social initiatives that challenge conventional recruitment methodologies.
- Partner with enterprise teams to establish and maintain social media best practices, ensuring brand governance and compliance across all initiatives.
- Explore and evaluate potential agency partnerships to support social moderation, ensuring safe and active community management.
- Develop and lead associate influencer and executive social programs to amplify our talent brand and foster authentic employee advocacy.
- Partner with cross-functional video and blog content teams to optimize production strategies and ensure content is tailored for social platform performance.
- Enhance operational efficiency by identifying and implementing the tools, processes, and methodologies required to create, measure, and scale our social media footprint.
- Cultivate an engaged candidate community by proactively monitoring and responding to conversations, serving as the consistent voice of Capital One Careers across all social channels.
- Design and maintain a comprehensive social reporting framework that ties platform metrics to key talent acquisition outcomes, providing leadership with clear visibility into the ROI of social initiatives.
Ideal candidate will be:
- A strategic thinker who translates talent priorities into social media tactics and campaigns that resonate with both leadership and candidates.
- A self-starter and collaborator who takes ownership of social programs, driving alignment across different teams to meet campaign goals.
- An analytical marketer who uses audience data and platform trends to build inclusive social strategies that grow our employer brand.
- An agile planner who moves easily between developing long-term channel roadmaps and managing daily social engagement.
- A clear communicator who can simplify complex strategy into compelling stories for stakeholders and project teams.
- A growth-focused strategist who constantly tests new content ideas, uses performance metrics to learn, and evolves our social approach over time.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or military experience
- At least 3 years of experience in digital marketing, social media management, and paid media campaigns—ideally in a highly regulated financial environment
- At least 3 years of experience in content and creative development
Preferred Qualifications:
- At least 5 years of social media experience for consumer OR candidate audiences (content creation, social media advertising, or social content strategy)
- 1 year experience adapting social media approach due to impact on Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) strategy
- Experience working at, or partnering closely with agencies or internal creative teams
- Experience working for a large, highly matrixed or Fortune 100 company
- Experience working on an employer brand, recruitment marketing, or talent acquisition team
- Experience using Sprinklr, Canva, or other social media management tools and platforms
- Project management experience, ability to manage details without losing sight of the broader picture
