Title: Primary Planner

Grade : E2/ E2S

Job Description:

The Primary Planner is responsible for end-to-end planning and coordination of materials, production schedules, and supply chain activities to support customer demand and business objectives within the Varian Semiconductor Business Unit. This role serves as the focal point for planning activities, ensuring material availability, production readiness, inventory optimization, and on-time delivery of products while collaborating with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Manufacturing, Procurement, Quality, and Program Management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and execute production and material plans to meet customer demand and business commitments.
  • Analyze demand forecasts and translate requirements into actionable production schedules.
  • Ensure material availability through effective coordination with Procurement, Sourcing, and Suppliers.
  • Monitor and manage inventory levels to balance customer service, inventory investment, and operational efficiency.
  • Lead planning activities for New Product Introduction (NPI), Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), and product transitions.
  • Identify supply chain risks, material shortages, and capacity constraints and develop mitigation plans.
  • Coordinate with Manufacturing to support production schedules and ensure on-time order fulfillment.
  • Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) such as on-time delivery, inventory turns, backlog, and schedule adherence.
  • Support Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) processes through demand and supply analysis.
  • Maintain planning data integrity within ERP/MRP systems.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance planning efficiency, inventory performance, and supply chain execution.
  • Collaborate with global stakeholders to ensure alignment of supply and demand across business operations.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in production planning, material planning, supply chain management, or manufacturing operations.
  • Experience working in a high-tech manufacturing environment, preferably semiconductor capital equipment.
  • Strong understanding of MRP/ERP systems and supply chain planning processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • APICS CPIM, CSCP, or equivalent certification.
  • Experience supporting semiconductor equipment manufacturing or complex engineered products.
  • Knowledge of inventory optimization, demand planning, and capacity planning methodologies.
  • Experience managing product lifecycle changes and ECO implementation.
