Position Summary
We are seeking a technically accomplished Senior / Staff Platform Engineer to support customer IoT camera and IP camera projects on Qualcomm embedded and IoT platforms. In this role, you will lead software development and integration for SoC-based Embedded Linux systems, coordinate cross-functional resources, resolve system-level issues, and drive customer platform bring-up, validation, and product delivery. You will also develop camera applications and integrate video analytics and AI applications.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership and Ownership: Independently drive assigned technical initiatives and customer projects. Proactively clarify requirements, define solutions, coordinate cross-functional resources, and manage risks through issue resolution, validation, and delivery.
Resource-Constrained System Development: Develop applications for Embedded Linux platforms based on low-power SoCs with limited memory capacity (64 MB / 128 MB RAM).
Driver Development: Develop and maintain drivers in C for RAW image sensors using the MIPI CSI interface and for SoC peripherals on Embedded Linux platforms.
System Bring-Up and Integration: Perform platform bring-up, driver integration, and functional validation for image sensors, SerDes, NOR / NAND flash, eMMC, I2S, SDIO, USB, Wi-Fi modules, and 4G LTE modules.
Application Development and Integration: Develop and maintain IoT camera / IP camera applications in C on embedded Linux platforms, including real-time audio/video streaming (RTSP), SD card recording and playback, event-triggered recording, and timestamp overlays (OSD). Integrate video analytics and AI applications, such as motion detection and object detection and tracking, and connect detection results to event notifications and Page 1 of 3 Qualcomm – Job Description recording functions. Integrate SDK features and assist customers with application porting and functional validation.
Debugging and Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve system-level issues across the kernel, drivers, and middleware.
Video Pipeline Integration: Integrate and tune SoC video processing pipelines to meet customer application requirements and resolve related issues.
H.264 / H.265 / MJPEG Video Encoding: Integrate SoC hardware encoding capabilities, configure encoding parameters, tune image quality and bitrates, optimize performance, and troubleshoot issues to meet customer recording and streaming requirements.
Customer Technical Support: Provide technical support for IoT camera and IP camera solutions to customers worldwide, including performance tuning and troubleshooting.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with R&D, AE, QA, and FAE teams to clarify requirements, responsibilities, and priorities, and jointly drive issue resolution and customer project delivery.
Quality and Delivery: Maintain high standards for code quality, testing, validation, and technical documentation. Deliver against agreed schedules and proactively coordinate resources and propose solutions when obstacles arise.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
At least 8 years of relevant development experience; 10 or more years preferred.
Proficiency in C/C++ programming, with strong software architecture and design skills.
Extensive hands-on experience in Embedded Linux development, including kernel and device driver development.
Experience in image sensor driver development or SoC peripheral integration.
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Ability to communicate technical information and prepare technical documentation in both Chinese and English.

Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity with multimedia frameworks such as GStreamer and FFmpeg, and with video processing pipelines.
Familiarity with IoT camera and IP camera platform solutions and system integration.
Basic ability to read and interpret circuit schematics and PCB layouts. Page 2 of 3 Qualcomm – Job Description
Experience in audio codec driver development or audio system integration.
Experience in display and on-screen display (OSD) development.
Experience in AoV development.
Experience developing for heterogeneous multicore SoCs, with familiarity with Linux / RTOS interoperability and inter-processor communication (IPC) mechanisms.
Familiarity with U-Boot boot flows or TrustZone architecture, or experience in Zephyr development.

Travel Requirements: Travel is anticipated approximately 4 times per year, depending on business and project needs. Potential destinations include the United States, India, and China; actual frequency and destinations may vary.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 4+ years of Software Applications Engineering, Software Development experience, or related work experience.
OR
Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 3+ years of Software Applications Engineering, Software Development experience, or related work experience.
OR
PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Software Applications Engineering, Software Development experience, or related work experience.

2+ years of experience with Programming Language such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.
1+ year of experience with debugging techniques.
