Responsibilities

This position is part of the CSG Protocol CoE Channel Emulation Solutions, the team responsible for developing Keysight’s portfolio of testing solutions for the wireless ecosystem—including cellular, non‑terrestrial networks (NTN), and aerospace & defense segments.

The OTA System Specialist contributes to the development, specification, and validation of advanced Base‑Station Over‑the‑Air (OTA) Chamber test solutions. The role involves functional and performance test solution planning, RF system and chamber requirements definition, system‑level verification, and customer‑facing technical support. This position is central in ensuring that OTA test solutions meet performance, reliability, and compliance expectations for next‑generation radio systems.

OTA Test Solution System Design

  • Translate customer use cases to operational OTA test solutions
  • Design and implement functional and performance test solutions by integration of protocol stack and channel emulation capabilities into OTA chamber environments
  • Plan MPAC OTA system configurations RF validation approaches.
  • Define OTA chamber requirements, including quiet‑zone performance, absorber characteristics, and structural needs.

Hardware Specification & Integration

  • Specify probe antennas, positioners, RF cabling, and related chamber hardware.
  • Support installation, alignment, and RF integrity checks of chamber components

System Verification

  • Verify OTA system functionality, including chamber control, positioner performance, and test automation.
  • Measure and evaluate RF‑quality metrics such as quiet‑zone characteristics, field uniformity, and phase flatness.

Compliance & EMC

  • Define and verify EMC, grounding, shielding, and other compliance‑related requirements for high‑power BS testing.
  • Ensure that system meets regulatory and internal safety standards.

Customer Engagement

  • Present OTA solutions to customers and support solution introduction and commissioning.
  • Collect customer requirements and translate them into actionable engineering specifications.
  • Provide technical troubleshooting and system‑level support.
Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, RF Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field.
  • Experience in OTA testing, RF measurements, antenna systems, or wireless test system integration.
  • Understanding of MPAC OTA methodologies and validation procedures (e.g. quiet‑zone characterization).
  • Knowledge of RF systems, antenna theory, calibration methods, and measurement instrumentation.
  • Familiarity with chamber hardware such as probes, positioners, and RF subsystems.
  • Experience with EMC/EMI requirements and RF‑safety considerations is an asset.
  • Strong understanding of 3GPP RAN protocols and procedures (e.g., NR/LTE PHY/MAC), including scheduling, link adaptation, and mobility management.
  • Expertise in beamforming and massive MIMO techniques, including beam management procedures and their validation in OTA environments.
  • Ability to work in cross‑functional engineering teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving capability.
  • Good communication skills and comfort in customer‑facing situations.
  • Hands‑on and proactive approach to system integration and validation.
