Operational Excellence Specialist
Description
We are seeking an experienced Technical Program Manager to own and scale a data and results-focused operational performance program. This role works cross-functionally and cross-regionally to deliver initiatives from 0 to infinity (intake, scope, execute, deploy, verify and sustain) across remote operations, service health, work prioritisation, field process and operations, service software and tooling, commissioning, site lifecycle, and change adoption and sustainment. The ideal candidate combines expertise in industrial energy systems with strong engineering, program management, data analytics, and operational excellence skills.
Tesla’s Energy Service organisation owns the efficient execution of service work. Operational Excellence (OPX) enables the operationalisation of this ownership, and Support Services provides direct support to field technicians and field managers on cross-functional issues (e.g. parts, tooling, vehicles). In launch, OPX is the voice of service. Once a program is live in the field, OPX owns the outcome: KPIs, process adherence, problem resolution, and commercial accountability. When performance is missed, OPX surfaces the gap, identifies the owner, and drives recovery.
Responsibilities
- Work with Field Managers to drive service performance metrics i.e. know the metric, the reason for the miss and drive the path back.
- Own work prioritisation logic for the APAC region and serve as subject matter expert on how work should be prioritised.
- Investigate and identify opportunities to improve efficiency or reduce costs via new workflows, digital tooling improvements, automation, waste reduction and first principles thinking.
- Generate insights and recommend actions to improve technician productivity and reduce service costs.
- Actively look for patterns in how field teams are executing against established process and procedures.
- Partner with Operational Program Lead to ensure process workflows are clearly understood and documented (process mapped).
- Intake, scope, execute, deploy, verify and sustain APAC continuous improvement initiatives, and globally where applicable.
- Collaborate with NAM and EMEA Technical Program Managers to determine if a regionally generated initiative should be executed across all three regions.
- Determine how success criteria for a new product or process will be measured, tracked, and reported.
- Drive root-cause investigation on reoccurring service activities and collaborate with field managers to implement corrective actions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering. Equivalent experience considered.
- 15+ years of experience in energy industry, including at least 4 years in a program- or project-management capacity.
- Proven track record leading process-optimisation, technical problem solving, risk analysis and developing (or evaluating) business cases in manufacturing or large-facility environments.
- Data-analytics skills.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and executive-presentation skills; ability to influence without direct authority.
