NPI Procurement Engineer
We are seeking an NPI Procurement Engineer to join our global procurement team in Swords, Ireland, supporting the development and manufacture of world-class laboratory diagnostic instruments used by healthcare providers around the globe.
In this highly collaborative role, you will act as the key interface between R&D, Procurement, Engineering, Manufacturing Operations, Quality, and our global supply base to support the successful development and launch of new products. You will play a critical role in influencing supplier selection, manufacturing technologies, design-for-manufacturing decisions, and cost optimization strategies throughout the product development lifecycle.
Working within a fast-paced engineering change and new product introduction environment, you will collaborate with suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure product designs are optimized for manufacturability, cost, quality, and supply chain resilience.

Your Tasks and Responsibilities
- Support New Product Introduction (NPI) projects from concept through proto typing, to product launch, ensuring supply chain readiness and successful supplier engagement.
- Collaborate with Procurement, Engineering, Manufacturing Operations, Quality, and Supply Chain teams to achieve project milestones and product launch objectives.
- Influence part design, manufacturing technology selection, and sourcing decisions to optimize quality, cost, and manufacturability.
- Drive Early Supplier Involvement (ESI) initiatives and promote supplier innovation throughout the product development process.
- Lead Design for Manufacturing & Assembly (DfMA), Design to Cost (DtC), Value Engineering (VE), and cost optimization activities.
- Conduct supplier sourcing and RFQ activities to identify suppliers that deliver the optimum Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) business award.
- Manage tooling programs from quotation and supplier selection through build, validation, and production approval.
- Support engineering change management activities and ensure supply chain impacts are managed effectively.
- Develop strong supplier relationships and work closely with strategic partners to improve capability, quality, innovation, and performance.

Your Qualifications and Experience
Essential
· Bachelor’s degree in engineering or science. Consideration may be given to candidates with bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, supply chain or procurement with a high degree of relevant industry technical knowledge.
· Experience working within New Product Introduction (NPI), Product Development, Procurement Engineering, Strategic Sourcing, or Manufacturing Engineering environments.
· Understanding of supplier manufacturing processes and technologies.
· Experience supporting supplier selection and sourcing decisions within a technical or engineering environment.
· Strong commercial awareness and proven supplier engagement and negotiation capability.
· Experience working cross-functionally with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Procurement stakeholders.
· Excellent analytical, problem-solving, planning, and project management skills.
· Strong communication, presentation, and stakeholder management capabilities.
Preferred
- Experience within electro-mechanical, electronics, medical device, healthcare, industrial, semiconductor, aerospace, or advanced manufacturing industries.
- Knowledge of Design for Manufacturing & Assembly (DfMA), Design to Cost (DtC), Early Supplier Involvement (ESI), and Value Engineering (VE) methodologies.
- Familiarity with manufacturing technologies including machining, metal fabrication, plastics, electronics assembly, optics, or fluidics.
Travel
· Willingness to travel internationally as required to support supplier development and project activities.
