About the Job:

Job Title: NPI Test Engineer

This is an R&D position focused on NPI Engineering (NPI = New Product Introduction).  In NPI Engineering, we don’t engineer new products.  We engineer the manufacturing of those new products.  We are in between the Product R&D team and the Production Manufacturing team.

You will collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, and marketing teams world-wide through the development of Keysight’s new test and measurement products until successful launch into a production environment.  The NPI (New Product Introduction) Engineering Team performs design validation, test creation, and hardware performance analysis for all new products during development.  The NPI Test Engineering role focuses on writing automated tests during the development of a new product, packaging and transferring those tests to a manufacturing line, and maintaining and developing processes for continuous software development and deployment. This is your opportunity to join a team that's bringing new products and technologies to the market faster and more efficiently than ever before!

About the Team:

Our NPI teams are multi-disciplinary, including electrical and software engineering. As an NPI (New Product Introduction) Test Engineer, you will apply your Software and Electrical Engineering skills to a variety of focused hands-on projects and have the opportunity to become a measurement expert yourself! You will be part of a product development team that collaborates closely with cross functional teams to design, develop, and test our Realtime Oscilloscopes, Probes, Accessories, and more.

We foster an open environment where innovation can thrive and inspire new ideas.  We actively support employee development, mentor employees to enable growth, and motivate for high achievement.  Keysight supports volunteerism in our communities with paid time off, employee networking groups, educational assistance development programs, fitness programs and free charging on site for electric vehicles.  We also understand the need for flexible work schedules at times and are a supportive team of dedicated engineers who want you to succeed!

Responsibilities

There are a variety of Software / Test Engineering responsibilities you may own, including:
– Work with product designers to understand how the hardware works and to define and plan automated tests, measurements, and algorithms to be developed for the manufacturing test of new products

– Design and develop automated tests for hardware performance characterization with DFm (Design for Manufacturing) considerations

– Develop software to drive Test Rack Equipment Hardware (i.e. electrical sources and measurement equipment, etc.) and to drive the Device Under Test (DUT) (i.e. oscilloscope)

– Make hands-on Test Rack Equipment connections and changes to the DUT to facilitate Automated Test development and execution

– Troubleshoot test system including Test Rack Test Equipment, DUT (i.e. oscilloscope) hardware and product software, Test Software, etc.

– Review and validate datasheet specifications to ensure alignment with manufacturing test limits

– Work with Production Engineers to transfer the automated tests, and architecture supporting those tests, to the Production line

– Provide technical documentation – test support documents, troubleshooting docs, training docs, etc.

– Work with cross-regional team to develop, maintain, and evolve architectural software packages enabling the success of NPI automated test development and transfer.

– Collaborate within a team to implement and maintain software development practices such as regular Unit Testing and Unit Test development, CI/CD practices, and stay informed on latest toolsets for maintaining a controlled codebase.

– Continuous improvement and expansion for software practices

– Respond to real-time needs of an NPI or Manufacturing Line, understanding Git branching strategy, workflow, and software release strategy to deploy software packages in a timely manner.

– Create test software release plans and schedules, aligning with greater project schedules
