What We Value:

We are a diverse team of free thinkers, and fast movers united to help investors and creators energize the global economy. We are looking for individuals who thrive in a culture of builders and overachievers and embrace high performance, transparent feedback, and a mission-first approach. Our culture shapes our way of working and gets us where we want to be.

  • Seek Excellence.
  • Be Selective To Be Effective.
  • Be Highly Aligned, Loosely Coupled.
  • Disagree Transparently.
  • Encourage Independent Decision-Making.
  • Build Dream Teams.

Who You Are:

You are a controls and OT network engineer who has seen what happens when the network is treated as an afterthought, and you want a seat at the table when the decisions are actually made. You have built and supported networks that could not be allowed to fail, and you are ready to move upstream to the owner’s side of a large capital program, where one early call gets locked into drawings, procurement, and a GMP. You hold a position with conviction and change it when the evidence says so. You can walk a design firm through a markup, walk a finance partner through a cost tradeoff, and do both in the same afternoon

What You’ll Do:

Every Galaxy campus depends on a controls network that ties cooling, electrical, and monitoring systems together, and it has to behave the same way at the next site as it does at the last one. As Data Center Controls Network Engineer, you will sit within Galaxy’s Pre-Construction team and act as the owner’s technical voice on OT networking, from the point a site is acquired through GMP handoff to construction. You will begin with the Helios campus in Texas and carry what you learn into the sites that follow, working with Galaxy’s pre-construction, design and engineering, construction, and operations groups and with the design firms, integrators, and suppliers they engage. Clear standards and the freedom to make decisions inside them are how we work. This role is based in Dallas, TX on a hybrid schedule, with periodic travel to campuses and vendor sites.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set the Owner’s Position: Turn tenant, power, and cooling requirements into a written OT network position that design firms and the general contractor can build from, so key decisions are made once and made early.
  • Build the Galaxy Playbook: Create the standards, typical details, and repeatable design packages that let each new campus start from what worked on the last one.
  • Shape the Bid List: Write technical scopes and support RFQ and RFP cycles for controls integrators, network and controls equipment suppliers, design consultants, and commissioning agents. Level the bids and recommend awards.
  • Challenge the Design: Review each design milestone for topology, IP and VLAN planning, segmentation, redundancy, and monitoring coverage, and drive comments to closure before drawings are issued for construction.
  • Connect the Disciplines: Work shoulder to shoulder with electrical, mechanical, IT, and security leads and with pre-construction project managers so the controls network matches what the power, cooling, and tenant requirements actually call for.
  • Get Ahead of Equipment: Work with the OFCI procurement and logistics teams to lock specifications, lead times, and delivery sequence for network and controls hardware so no site is ever waiting on a switch.
  • Draw the Line Between OT and IT: Agree on the boundary between the OT and corporate networks, remote access for vendors and tenants, and firewall rules with Galaxy IT and security before the design is frozen.
  • Make Testing Contractual: Build acceptance criteria and test requirements for factory, site, failover, and integrated systems testing into scopes and commissioning plans, so proof of performance is a contract requirement rather than a favor.
  • Vet Equipment Early: Check submittals, firmware selections, and baseline configurations against Galaxy standards, and catch mismatches in the office instead of in the field.
  • Plan for the Operators: Write down what operations will have to live with, including change control, configuration backups, firmware management, monitoring, and rollback procedures, before the design is final.
  • Put Numbers on It: Give technical input to budgets, GMP pricing review, and schedule for controls and network scope, and surface cost, schedule, and value-engineering effects as early as possible.
  • Pass the Baton: Deliver the design basis, open items, and lessons learned to construction and commissioning teams, and stay available to them through early construction.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, network engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 7+ years designing, delivering, and supporting OT or industrial networks where downtime is not acceptable, such as data centers, utilities, manufacturing, or other critical facilities.
  • Solid grounding in segmented network design, including VLAN and VRF strategy, access control, and redundant paths, with the judgment to know how much resilience a given system actually needs.
  • Understanding of how building management, electrical power monitoring, and SCADA systems are architected, and what they demand of the network underneath, including time synchronization and telemetry from power and cooling equipment.
  • Practical experience with firewalls, VPNs, and secure remote access in OT environments, including how vendor and tenant access is granted and controlled.
  • Experience reading drawings and specifications, reviewing design submissions, and writing technical scopes, ideally from the owner’s or designer’s side of a large capital project.
  • Exposure to commissioning and acceptance testing, and the ability to turn field lessons into requirements the next project can use.
  • Comfort working with incomplete information, including sites at different stages and decisions that have to be made before every answer is in.
  • Based in or near Dallas, TX, with a hybrid schedule and periodic travel to campuses, vendors, and project sites.

Bonus Points:

  • Strong written and verbal communication, with a record of making complex technical subjects clear to engineers, executives, and vendors alike.
  • Experience developing RFQs and RFPs, leveling bids, or selecting vendors for technical scopes.
  • Working knowledge of delivery models such as GMP and of how design decisions drive cost and schedule.
  • Professional networking or security credentials, such as CCNP, PCNSE, GICSP, or ISA/IEC 62443.
  • Experience supporting multiple sites or campuses and keeping them consistent with one another.
  • Sound judgment under pressure and a willingness to disagree openly and raise issues early and honestly

What We Offer:

  • Competitive base salary and discretionary bonus
  • Hybrid/Flexible Working Arrangements
  • Flexible Time Off (paid)
  • 3% 401(k) company contribution
  • Company-paid health and protective benefits for employees, partners, and other dependents
  • Generous paid Parental Leave
  • Competitive family planning benefits for US employees
  • Opportunities to learn about the Crypto industry
  • Smart, entrepreneurial, and fun colleagues
  • Free daily snacks and weekly breakfasts/lunches
  • Employee Resource Groups
  • Free coaching and counseling sessions through Headspace
