Description and Requirements
The Country Sales Manager, South Africa will lead Motorola’s commercial business across the country, with responsibility for accelerating revenue, profitability, market share, distribution, and sell-through performance.
This is an office-based position in Johannesburg, designed for an experienced sales leader with strong knowledge of the smartphone, mobile-device, or consumer-technology industry and substantial expertise in operator-channel development.
The role has end-to-end responsibility for the South Africa business across operator, retail, distribution, and e-commerce channels, with the operator channel as a key strategic priority.
The successful candidate will collaborate with regional and international teams across Marketing, Product Management, Sales Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, and other business functions.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and execute the South Africa commercial strategy in alignment with Motorola’s regional and global business objectives.
• Own revenue, profitability, market share, distribution, sell-in, sell-out, and sell-through performance against annual and quarterly targets.
• Lead the development of operator, retail, distribution, and e-commerce channels, with a strong focus on expanding the operator business.
• Build strategic relationships with mobile operators, national retailers, distributors, and other key channel partners.
• Lead commercial negotiations, joint business planning, pricing strategies, promotional programs, and partner investment decisions.
• Direct end-to-end go-to-market planning and execution for product launches, portfolio introductions, and channel activation programs.
• Partner with Product, Marketing, Sales Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, and Logistics teams to align demand forecasting, inventory, and commercial execution.
• Lead, coach, and develop the local sales organization while providing regular performance updates, forecasts, and market insights to senior leadership.
Position Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
• Significant progressive sales and commercial leadership experience within smartphones, mobile devices, consumer electronics, telecommunications, or a closely related technology sector.
• Demonstrated experience managing operator channels and operator-partner relationships within the South African market.
• Strong understanding of retail, distribution, and e-commerce sales models, including high-volume consumer-product environments.
• Proven record of delivering revenue growth, profitability improvements, market-share gains, successful product launches, and measurable channel performance.
• Experience leading commercial negotiations, business planning, forecasting, and cross-functional execution within a matrix or multinational organization.
• Fluency in English, with strong written, verbal, presentation, and stakeholder-management skills.
• Collaborative and commercially focused leadership style, with the ability to manage competing priorities, make informed decisions, develop teams, and operate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
