Job Overview

Microsoft Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO+I) delivers the infrastructure powering Microsoft's cloud services. The EMEA Data Centre Delivery (DCD) team leads the end-to-end Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) delivery of data centres across the region.

As the Quality Manager, you will be Microsoft's site quality lead for oversight and assurance of the General Contractor's quality delivery. The GC remains accountable for delivering the project in accordance with contract requirements, Microsoft standards, project specifications, approved submittals, applicable local codes, and agreed quality controls. You will verify that the GC's quality management system is active at the workface, identify and escalate quality risks, challenge weak controls, and ensure risks, defects, NCRs, and corrective actions are owned, visible at project level, and closed with robust evidence.

In this position, you will provide day-to-day Microsoft quality governance across CSA, MEP, equipment installation, workface protection, preservation, environmental controls, defect management, NCR/RCA/CAPA, commissioning readiness, and turnover documentation. You will use field observation, quality walkdowns, GC records, defect data, and project reporting to identify weak controls, emerging risks, and areas needing project-level intervention before issues move downstream into commissioning or operations.

The role requires a Quality Manager who can be visible in the field and credible in formal governance forums. You will need to balance practical construction quality awareness with programme-level risk visibility, be confident in discussions with contractors and internal stakeholders where standards are not being met, and maintain clear project visibility of quality risks without taking accountability away from the GC's delivery obligations.

Responsibilities
  • Act as Microsoft’s on-site quality lead, providing oversight and assurance of contractor quality performance across the full project lifecycle.
  • Verify that construction works are delivered in accordance with contract requirements, Microsoft standards, approved designs, specifications, and local regulatory requirements.
  • Identify, escalate, and drive resolution of quality risks, defects, non-conformances (NCRs), root causes, and corrective/preventive actions (CAPAs).
  • Assure QA/QC execution across CSA, MEP, and equipment installation scopes, including inspections, testing, verification activities, and quality documentation.
  • Partner with project, commissioning, and operations teams to ensure readiness for turnover, system energisation, and successful handover.
  • Use quality metrics, dashboards, defect trends, and field observations to identify emerging risks and drive continuous improvement across the project.
  • Build strong relationships with contractors, engineers, safety teams, commissioning teams, and key stakeholders to maintain visibility, accountability, and quality outcomes throughout delivery.
