Our team:

The Market Specialist team within Financial Solutions serves as Bloomberg’s market, industry and workflow experts. Comprised of former traders, portfolio managers, analysts, sales professionals and industry practitioners, the team combines deep market expertise with an understanding of client workflows and Bloomberg’s product, data and technology solutions.

This is a highly client-facing and commercially focused role, working closely with Sales, Product, Data and Research teams to identify market opportunities, deepen client engagement, drive product adoption and support revenue growth.

What’s the role?

We are looking for a Metals & Commodities Market Specialist with deep knowledge of metals markets and a broader understanding of the global commodities landscape.

You will bring market expertise and industry perspective to conversations with trading desks, investors, financial institutions and corporations, helping clients navigate changing commodity markets and translate those challenges into Bloomberg workflows and solutions.

The role will cover the intersection of metals markets, trading, investment and the corporate value chain, including the market forces reshaping supply, demand, pricing, capital allocation and risk. You will engage with senior decision-makers, support strategic sales opportunities, identify emerging client needs and provide actionable feedback to Bloomberg's Product teams.

As client workflows increasingly incorporate AI, you will also help clients explore how generative AI, prompt engineering and agentic workflows can transform commodity research and analysis—combining market expertise with Bloomberg data and technology to make complex workflows more intuitive, scalable and actionable.

You will represent Bloomberg externally through client engagements, industry events, webinars, professional associations and thought leadership, building an active network across the commodities community and strengthening Bloomberg’s position as a partner to market participants.

We’ll trust you to:

- Serve as a subject matter expert on metals and commodity markets, bringing a strong understanding of market structure, pricing, supply and demand dynamics, trading and investment workflows.

- Partner with Sales leadership to identify addressable markets, strategic accounts and commercial opportunities across traders, financial institutions, commodity trading desks and corporations.

- Use your market expertise and understanding of client workflows to support revenue growth across the Bloomberg Terminal, Enterprise Data and broader Bloomberg solutions.

- Consult with senior decision-makers and market participants, understanding their investment, trading, research and risk challenges and demonstrating how Bloomberg data, analytics and technology can address them.

- Champion AI-enabled commodity workflows, helping clients use generative AI, prompt engineering and emerging agentic capabilities to accelerate research, interrogate data, identify market signals and improve decision-making.

- Translate deep commodity market expertise into effective prompts and AI workflows, understanding how context, data and domain expertise can improve the quality and relevance of AI-generated insights.

- Develop and execute a strategic roadmap for the metals and commodities business aligned with Sales, Product and broader firm priorities, establishing clear measures of commercial and client impact.

- Influence Bloomberg's product direction by bringing the voice of the market and our clients to Product and Data teams, identifying gaps, emerging workflows and opportunities for innovation.

- Protect and grow existing revenue through strategic client engagement, on-site visits, workflow consultations, training and product adoption.

- Develop relationships with industry associations, exchanges, professional organizations, research communities and other market influencers to stay close to emerging trends and strengthen Bloomberg’s connectivity to the commodities ecosystem.

- Represent Bloomberg at industry conferences, client forums, webinars, roundtables and third-party events, contributing market insight, moderating conversations and developing thought leadership that strengthens Bloomberg’s external presence.

- Develop scalable client content, demonstrations, campaigns and internal training that strengthen the commodities capabilities of Bloomberg’s broader Sales organization.

- Collaborate across commodities specialties, identifying opportunities where metals intersect with energy, power, agriculture, environmental commodities and broader macro markets.

You’ll need to have:

- Significant professional experience in metals and commodities markets, gained within financial services, trading, investment management, research, banking, mining, commodity-intensive corporates or a related industry.

- Deep knowledge of metals markets and the factors influencing pricing, supply, demand, trade flows and investment decisions.

- Strong understanding of relevant client workflows, which may include trading, analyst research, portfolio management, hedging, risk management, corporate finance, strategy or market analysis.

- A commercial mindset and demonstrated ability to translate market expertise into client engagement and business opportunities.

- Strong consultative skills with the ability to uncover client needs, handle objections and influence senior stakeholders.

- Excellent presentation and communication skills, with the ability to make complex market concepts, analytics and workflows accessible to audiences with different levels of expertise.

- Strong business judgment and the ability to identify market trends and opportunities that can tangibly contribute to Bloomberg's commercial success.

- Ability to collaborate effectively across Sales, Product, Data and Research teams and influence outcomes in a highly collaborative environment.

- Experience with Bloomberg Professional Services or comparable financial market data, analytics and technology platforms.

- Willingness to travel across North America to engage with clients and industry participants.

We’d love to see:

-Direct experience in base metals, precious metals, ferrous metals, mining or commodity trading.

- Experience working with both financial market participants and corporations, with an understanding of how commodity markets connect physical and financial workflows.

- Understanding of financial modeling, valuation and company analysis within the mining, materials or commodity sectors.

- An established external network across metals, mining, trading, investment, corporate markets, industry associations or other relevant commodity communities.

- Familiarity with derivatives, hedging and commodity risk-management workflows.

- Strong analytical skills and an ability to work across market, fundamental, company and alternative datasets.

- Experience using APIs, Excel, Python, Jupyter notebooks or other analytical tools to build and enhance market workflows.

- Experience experimenting with generative AI, prompt engineering or agentic workflows, particularly where these technologies can enhance research, analytics and decision-making.

- Intellectual curiosity around the structural forces reshaping commodities, including infrastructure investment, electrification, AI and power demand, supply-chain resilience and changing global trade patterns.

- An entrepreneurial mindset and demonstrated ability to turn market developments, external relationships and client needs into scalable commercial initiatives.
