About the Role

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will contribute directly to the development and lifecycle support of electric motors for demanding industrial applications. At our motor factory in Oradea, you will help shape platform architectures, improve product quality, and industrialize robust, scalable mechanical solutions. The role provides a high level of ownership and close collaboration within a global R&D network.

Your Responsibilities

  • Develop mechanical components and assemblies for electric motors; add platform elements and modular building blocks where required by the assignment, while meeting performance, cost, and manufacturability targets.
  • Lead improvements in product and component quality, conducting structured analyses (e.g., root cause, design reviews) and driving corrective actions.
  • Identify and implement cost‑reduction opportunities, ensuring an optimal balance between technical performance, manufacturability, and reliability.
  • Ensure Design for Manufacturing (DfM) and Design for Automation (DfA) in close cooperation with Manufacturing Technology and industrialization engineers.
  • Act as a key technical interface for suppliers, Sales, Product Management, and customer engineering teams, supporting technically demanding customer requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with Quality, Logistics, Manufacturing Technology, Manufacturing, Procurement, and Controlling throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Ensure complete documentation, validation, and release of mechanical designs in accordance with internal standards and industrial development processes.
  • Contribute to the platformization and standardization of mechanical solutions, ensuring reuse and scalability across the motor portfolio.

What You Bring

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics (required).
  • Experience in motor design, rotating machinery, or precision mechanics (preferred).
  • Proven experience with mechanical CAD tools (mandatory); Siemens NX preferred.

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of materials, thermal behavior and cooling, ISO GPS tolerancing, and mechanical design principles, plus a basic understanding of FEM.
  • Mandatory exposure to platform architectures and industrial product development standards (e.g., requirements engineering, validation processes, release cycles).
  • Familiarity with the following tools / environments:
    • NX for mechanical design
    • Teamcenter for Product Lifecycle Management (PLM)
    • Polarion for requirements and process management
    • Simcenter or comparable simulation tools

Languages

  • Romanian and English — fluent
  • German — considered a plus

Soft Skills

  • Strong ownership & accountability for product quality and deliverables.
  • Effective cross-functional communication with factory functions and global R&D teams.
  • Structured problem-solving mindset and hands-on approach.

Travel

  • 10-20% travel expected after the initial onboarding and training phase (e.g., to Germany or suppliers).

What We Offer

  • Work directly in the motor factory, enabling fast feedback loops between design and manufacturing.
  • High customer involvement and exposure to demanding technical requirements.
  • Collaboration within international R&D and engineering networks.
  • Opportunity to take end-to-end ownership of mechanical components and assemblies throughout the product lifecycle.
