Position Overview:

As a Material Handler I supporting our Light Rail and Locomotive manufacturing operations, you will play a critical role in ensuring materials, components, and assemblies are accurately delivered, organized, and available to support production. This hands-on position is responsible for material movement, kitting, inventory management, shortage resolution, and coordination with Production Control, Warehouse, and Manufacturing teams to maintain an efficient workflow. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, detail-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment where teamwork, quality, and on-time delivery are essential.

What your day may look like:

• Receive, organize, and distribute materials, parts, carts, crates, and assemblies to production workstations while identifying shortages, resolving discrepancies, and supporting uninterrupted production flow.
• Break down and kit materials for individual work orders, maintain inventory levels, restock shop floor bulk materials, and coordinate with Production Control and Warehouse teams to resolve material-related issues.
• Operate forklifts, Straddle Carrier equipment, and other material handling equipment to safely transport materials, long assemblies, crates, and production components throughout the facility.
• Support production operations by unpacking materials, performing parts handling activities, operating cleaning equipment, maintaining cleanliness standards, and ensuring work areas remain organized and production-ready.
• Collaborate closely with production teams, communicate workflow updates and safety concerns, perform routine equipment inspections, and follow all safety procedures and PPE requirements to maintain a safe working environment.

What Will Make You Successful:

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 1-2 years of experience in material handling, mechanical assembly, forklift operation, manufacturing, warehouse operations, or similar equipment-related environments.
• Experience operating forklifts, powered industrial vehicles (PIVs), or other material handling equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
• Ability to read and interpret work instructions, technical drawings, diagrams, and material documentation.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to identify shortages, inventory discrepancies, and material handling issues.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills with the ability to work collaboratively across production, warehouse, and support teams.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while maintaining a commitment to safety, quality, and productivity.

The pay range for this position is $21.40 per hour. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications and premium geographic location.
