Manufacturing Equipment Engineer, Roadster

Description

The Manufacturing Equipment Engineer is responsible for the performance of equipment used in the production. They manage tooling designs and product design changes/upgrades to implement necessary improvements for enhancing performance, meeting the required pace of production, or supporting product development.
They manage and develop equipment maintenance procedures, train equipment technicians on best practices for maintenance and downtime recovery, and provide support to various products and programs as subject matter experts in similar processes and technologies. They work closely with Design, Operations, Safety, Facilities, Quality, Maintenance, Controls, and Process Engineering teams to achieve safe and efficient manufacturability of Tesla products.

Responsibilities

• Subject matter expert of equipment used in their area, supporting improvements and escalations related to yield, quality, downtime, and safety

• Manage equipment performance and present OEE data. Manage equipment and product roadmaps to meet design and production ramp plans

• Design new equipment/machine stations as well as manage tooling upgrades for existing production stations

• Work with equipment vendors to establish Tesla standards and requirements for manufacturing technologies

Requirements

• Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent in experience

• 1-3 years of hands-on mechanical and electrical experience in a production environment. 

• Experience with SolidWorks or other 3D CAD software

• Understanding of automation systems, mechanical engineering, robotics, PLCs, data collection systems

• Experience with drilling, tapping, and utilizing basic shop tools 

• Working knowledge of data analysis, statistics, SPC

• Able to maintain organization and focus in a highly dynamic environment 

• Excellent communicator, both in presentations and written reports

Expected Compensation

$84,000 - $180,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
