As a Manufacturing Equipment Engineer in Tilburg, you will build, commission, operate, and continuously improve some of the most automated manufacturing equipment in the world. You will own assigned battery pack and module production equipment across its full lifecycle — from specification, installation, and qualification, through ramp and daily sustaining, to upgrades and end-of-life — working hands-on across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and controls disciplines.

Our lines are built around high-precision joining and material application processes: laser welding, adhesive dispensing and potting, and inline vision inspection. You will bring new lines from crate to production and then keep them running to spec, driving the improvements that raise their capability.

We expect you to arrive with real depth in one or two areas and to build breadth across the rest by learning from the people around you. If you have strong automated equipment experience from an adjacent high-volume industry, we would still like to hear from you. The best candidate has a high aptitude for picking up new skillsets quickly, takes genuine ownership of their equipment, and does not shy away from a challenge.

Responsibilities

  • Build, install, and commission new manufacturing lines and equipment — supporting specification and vendor technical reviews, FAT/SAT, installation, debug, and ramp to full-rate production
  • Validate and qualify new and modified equipment, owning calibration, IQ/OQ/PQ-style qualification, process capability studies, and the handover of documentation and training to Production and Maintenance
  • Sustain 24/7 battery module and pack production by responding to and resolving breakdowns quickly and efficiently, and provide hands-on support to Maintenance during extended downtime situations
  • Own the performance of laser welding, dispensing/potting, and vision inspection equipment — maintaining weld and bead quality, optics and nozzle condition, calibration, and process window stability
  • Diagnose equipment failures, drive root cause analysis with structured methods, and lead improvement and upgrade projects that raise Overall Equipment Effectiveness, first-pass yield, availability, serviceability, and cost efficiency, including 2D/3D CAD design for equipment, fixtures, and layouts
  • Program, modify, and troubleshoot PLC logic (Allen-Bradley, Siemens), industrial robots (Fanuc), vision systems (Keyence, Cognex), HMIs, and servo/VFD systems to sequence and optimize complex multi-station machinery
  • Develop and improve preventive and predictive maintenance strategies and schedules, set up and maintain the CMMS system, own critical spare parts coverage and vendor RMAs, and ensure compliance with equipment safety regulations including laser safety and handling of energized cells and modules
  • Become the expert on equipment in your assigned area: create and maintain technical documentation, operating instructions, and training material, and train shift technicians and cross-functional partners

Requirements

  • Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronic Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with automated production equipment in a high-volume manufacturing environment, including direct involvement in installing, commissioning, or qualifying new equipment or lines
  • Hands-on experience with at least one of the following process technologies, and the motivation to develop in the others: laser welding (or another precision joining process such as resistance or ultrasonic welding), adhesive dispensing, potting, or sealing systems, or industrial vision systems (e.g. Keyence, Cognex) for inline inspection
  • Experience in battery pack, module, or cell manufacturing is strongly preferred; experience from an adjacent industry such as EV powertrain, energy storage, automotive assembly, or electronics manufacturing is equally welcome
  • Working knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, cooling systems, and vacuum technology, plus electrical and electronic systems; familiarity with at least one of PLC programming (Siemens, Allen-Bradley), robotics (Fanuc), HMI/SCADA (Ignition, SIMATIC), or servo/VFD systems
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, technical manuals, and specifications; experience with 2D/3D modeling software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or CATIA); and familiarity with CMMS platforms and preventive maintenance planning
  • Strong analytical and structured problem-solving skills (DMAIC, 8D, Ishikawa, 5 Whys), with the ability to translate high-level performance issues into addressable actions
