The Vehicle Manufacturing Controls Team is seeking a highly motivated Manufacturing Controls Dev Engineer who will focus on creating Robotic Programs and leverage the experience in industrial process’ to effectively and efficiently help design the robotic systems that will build the next generation of product.  

As a Manufacturing Controls Dev Engineer, you are directly responsible for the design and implementation of these manufacturing lines, so the knowledge of advanced movements and capabilities will help shape the fastest production line Tesla has ever built. 

Responsibilities

  • Responsibility for designing/selecting robotic systems  
  • Responsible for continuous process optimization 
  • Advanced robot safety design including DCS, SafeOperation, SafeMove  
  • Develop custom robot application code to interface with new technologies  
  • Support maintenance team in troubleshooting difficult breakdowns and chronic equipment failures  
  • Project management: both internal maintenance projects, and major contractor projects  
  • Develop procedures, write standards, and maintain proper documentation related to robotics systems  
  • Creating simulations and offline programs 

Requirements

  • Bachelor's in Mechatronics Engineering or equivalent experience  
  • 3+ years' experience with industrial robot programming and applications  
  • Good robotic high level and background programming skills on Fanuc, KUKA, ABB or equivalent brands  
  • Proficient in RoboGuide, WorkVisual, iiQWorks, RobotStudio or equivalent 
  • Hands on experience commissioning and programming industrial robots 
  • Knowledge of programming languages such as python, C++, ROS 
  • Experience in robotics applications such as material handling, adhesive, spot-welding, bolting  
  • Design and commissioning knowledge of vision guidance systems such as MechMind, Cognex, Keyence 
  • PLC programming knowledge is a plus  
  • Knowledge and proficiency in Process Simulate is a plus
