Manufacturing Accountant
Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Freight and Duties Cost Accountant with 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing or supply chain environment to join our Cost Accounting Team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing all cost functions related to freight and duties, including cost calculation, analysis, standard cost setup, variance monitoring, financial reporting, and ensuring accurate accounting for freight, transportation, customs duties, tariffs, and related liabilities. You will support manufacturing operations by driving logistics cost accuracy, process improvements, and providing insights to leadership.
Responsibilities
- Lead and support all freight and duties cost calculations, including analysis of transportation, shipping, logistics, customs duties, tariffs, import/export fees, and related expenses
- Responsible for setting up and maintaining standard costs for freight and duties
- Perform month-end and year-end close activities, including freight- and duty-related journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations and variances for inbound/outbound logistics
- Work closely with operational teams (logistics, supply chain, receiving, customs/trade compliance, inventory control, and IT) to address cost-related issues, enhance accuracy and drive process improvements
- Ensure compliance with SOX controls, US GAAP, and relevant accounting principles; support internal and external audits
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, or equivalent experience
- 3+ years of experience in Cost Accounting, preferably in a large manufacturing environment, with proven experience in freight, logistics, duties/tariffs, inventory/manufacturing cost analysis.
- Experience leading system improvement projects and driving operational changes to enhance cost accuracy
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data; proficiency in financial analysis, variance analysis, and data extraction
- Advanced knowledge of MS Excel, strong SQL skills preferred
- Ability to multi-task and drive actions to completion under strict deadlines
- Knowledge of US GAAP and SOX controls

Expected Compensation
$76,000 - $132,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
