Title and Summary
Manager, Product Management – Access to Capital & Credit RiskOverviewMastercard Credit Intelligence is building solutions that help financial institutions assess credit risk, expand responsible access to financing, and grow small and medium-sized business lending. The Access to Capital team connects financial institutions, issuers, capital providers, technology partners, and Mastercard capabilities to create scalable lending opportunities. This global role will lead the commercialization of existing pilots and new opportunities, build strategic relationships, and help expand the initiative across markets. It combines commercial lending expertise, business development, relationship management, product management, and program execution. The successful candidate will operate with significant autonomy, coordinate complex stakeholder groups, and turn lending opportunities into practical, commercially viable solutions that support financial institutions and small businesses.
All About the Role
- Lead the conversion of financial institution pilots and prospective client opportunities into commercial programs, taking engagements from initial concept through implementation and scale.
- Build and manage strategic relationships with financial institutions, issuers, capital providers, development finance organizations, and ecosystem partners to expand access to credit and support scalable lending programs.
- Partner with global and regional sales teams, account managers, Advisors, and business development leaders to identify, shape, qualify, and advance lending opportunities, contributing to pipeline development.
- Lead or support client discovery, proposition development, commercial discussions, business cases, and pilot-to-commercial conversion.
- Apply knowledge of commercial lending, SME lending, credit risk, underwriting, loan origination, loan management, and portfolio management to shape practical client solutions.
- Translate financial institution needs into clear product, data, credit-decisioning, underwriting, origination, workflow, and implementation requirements.
- This role will not be expected to independently define the overall A2C or Mastercard Lending Network strategy, but will play a critical role in translating that strategy into execution, scalable operating models, and commercial outcomes.
- Coordinate capital-provider and strategic-partner workstreams, converting broader partnerships into executable opportunities with financial institutions.
- Work across Product, Sales, Legal, Privacy, Finance, Technology, and regional teams to resolve dependencies, manage risks, and accelerate delivery.
- Establish clear plans, governance, milestones, responsibilities, success criteria, and commercial arrangements across multi-market initiatives and partner engagements.
- Help scale Access to Capital from individual pilots into repeatable operating models, a broader lending ecosystem, and ultimately a scalable global platform that expands responsible access to capital for small businesses.
- Lead complex cross-functional workstreams involving Product, Sales, Legal, Privacy, Finance, Technology, and regional teams, proactively identifying blockers, managing dependencies, and driving initiatives through execution and commercialization.
- Lead engagement with capital providers and strategic funding partners, helping translate ecosystem relationships into executable lending opportunities and scalable market deployment models.
- Develop trusted executive relationships with financial institutions and ecosystem partners, identifying opportunities to expand engagements, deepen strategic partnerships, and accelerate commercialization across Mastercard capabilities.
- Help evolve A2C from individual pilots through validation, live lending, and multi-market scale toward the Mastercard Lending Network, including common lender standards, portfolio monitoring, capital-provider connectivity, and Mastercard-enabled disbursement and repayment.
- Build and manage strategic relationships with financial institutions, issuers, capital providers, and ecosystem partners to expand SME credit and support incremental card issuance.
- Experience in banking, business banking, commercial lending, SME lending, digital lending, credit risk, fintech, or a closely related financial services environment.
- Practical understanding of lending products and workflows, including areas such as underwriting, risk assessment, loan origination, loan management, or portfolio economics.
- Experience building, launching, managing, commercializing, or transforming lending products, digital credit journeys, credit platforms, or related banking capabilities.
- Demonstrated business development, client relationship, account management, or strategic partnership experience, ideally involving financial institutions, lenders, issuers, or capital providers.
- Proven experience turning client or market opportunities into commercial propositions, pilots, partnerships, or scalable programs.
- Demonstrated ownership and the ability to independently lead complex initiatives, make sound decisions, and move work forward with limited day-to-day guidance.
- Strong cross-functional leadership skills, with experience aligning senior internal and external stakeholders across multiple teams, markets, or business areas.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to lead working sessions and present recommendations to senior stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Banking, Technology, Product Management, International Development, or a related discipline preferred; a relevant master’s degree, MBA, or postgraduate qualification is an advantage.
- Strong program management experience, including the ability to manage multiple concurrent workstreams, stakeholders, dependencies, and risks across complex initiatives.
- Demonstrated ability to operate as an owner—independently identifying issues, recommending solutions, driving decisions, and moving complex initiatives forward.
- Interest in helping build a new global business and taking on increasing leadership responsibility as the A2C platform and team scale.
