Tesla's manufacturing engineering team is accelerating the world's transition to sustainable energy by scaling production of residential energy products, including Powerwall and its supporting systems. This team sits at the center of process innovation, translating cutting-edge product designs into reliable, high-volume manufacturing lines that deliver energy independence to customers around the world.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a small team of engineers through manufacturing equipment development for modules and final product assembly lines
  • Develop and optimize manufacturing processes for Powerwall and residential energy supporting systems from concept through production launch
  • Define and validate critical process parameters, control plans, and work instructions for residential energy assembly lines on a recurring basis
  • Collaborate daily with design engineering, supply chain, and quality teams to ensure designs are manufacturable and lines are production-ready
  • Lead equipment design reviews, DFM reviews, and PFMEAs throughout the product development cycle
  • Specify, procure, install, and commission manufacturing equipment for residential energy product lines
  • Manage line ramps from pilot through high-volume production, tracking and reporting progress and risks to engineering leadership weekly
  • Identify and drive resolution of manufacturing issues on the production floor, supporting root cause analysis and corrective action as needed

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience launching electronics manufacturing equipment including RFQs, equipment design reviews, installation, and production commissioning
  • 3+ years leading a team of engineers in a manufacturing environment
  • Hands-on experience conducting PFMEAs, DFM reviews, and control plan development
  • Experience managing line ramps from pilot through high-volume production
  • Experience with process validation and work instruction development
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or equivalent engineering discipline, or equivalent experience
