This self-starter will operationalize data stewardship across business teams and data domains, drive stewardship issues from intake to documented decisions, and help refine and mature the Enterprise Data Governance framework.
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience running data stewardship processes, turning complex data logic into clear, documented decisions, and influencing stakeholders at all levels to adopt them.
This role will report to a Director, AI & Data Governance.
About this Role
Triage and research issues submitted to Data Stewardship and drive them to a documented decision.
Analyze root causes across source systems, data warehouse logic, and downstream reports.
Support stewardship teams by writing and maintaining business glossary terms, critical data elements, classification and transformation logic in the data catalog (Atlan), translating technical logic into plain language for non-technical stakeholders.
Keep an accurate, audit-ready intake tracker, with status, dates, decisions and rationale for each item, and use it to prepare status updates, metrics and summaries for leadership and executive sponsors.
Prepare agendas, pre-reads and supporting analysis for stewardship meetings, then write recaps that clearly show decisions, action items and owners, and follow up until items are closed.
Support the operationalization of Mastercard's federated data stewardship model by building and maintaining playbooks, templates, procedures and job aids that help business teams and data domains perform stewardship roles and governance activities consistently.
Drive awareness and adoption of data and AI management practices through steward onboarding, training, communications, and forums that improve data literacy across the networks.
Implement and help continuously improve the data governance framework, adapting processes as data and AI practices change.
