Description and Requirements

Role Summary

The System Lead is responsible for overseeing systems and infrastructure operations across compute, virtualisation, storage, and common services. The role administers identity and authentication platforms, manages patching and software deployments, provides backend endpoint support, enforces resilience through backup and disaster recovery, monitors performance and capacity, and develops automation to enhance consistency, speed, and compliance. In addition, the System Lead provides technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to a team of engineers to ensure high‑quality operational delivery and continuous improvement.

The System Lead should come with at least 10 years of experience in supporting and troubleshooting infrastructure services, managing the day-2 IT Infrastructure operation for one of our key customers in Singapore.

The technical operation domains include:

Virtualization platform management

Experience in managing VMware or Hyper-V

Windows server management

Experience in managing large-scale Active Directory environments

Proficiency in Windows Server failover clustering and load balancing

Red Hat Enterprise Linux administration

Expertise in RHEL performance tuning and security hardening

Experience with Red Hat Satellite for system management and patching

Hypervisor configuration and management

Expertise in VMware vSphere cluster management and high availability setup

Experience with Hyper-V live migration and replication

Rack infrastructure setup and maintenance

Skilled in designing and implementing efficient rack cooling solutions

Experience in high-density server rack power distribution management

Backup solutions design and execution

Expertise in implementing and managing enterprise-level backup solutions like Veeam or Commvault

Experience in designing and testing disaster recovery plans

Network infrastructure management

Skilled in configuring and troubleshooting VLANs, VPNs, and firewalls

Experience in implementing software-defined networking (SDN) solutions

Database services administration and optimisation

Proficiency in performance tuning for major database systems (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL)

Experience in implementing database high availability and disaster recovery solutions

Storage configurations and management

Skilled in configuring and troubleshooting LUNs and storage related issues

Experience with PureStorage live migration and replication

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and guide a small team, ensuring operational excellence. Oversee daily operations of servers, storage, virtualisation platforms, and cloud services. Manage systems, physical and virtual servers (e.g. VMware vSphere, Windows, Linux), in accordance with customer requirements, covering configuration, provisioning, security hardening, performance monitoring, optimisation, patching, incident management, documentation, and backup/recovery compliance. Administer identity services (e.g. Active Directory, Entra), failover clustering, load balancing, as well as virtual machine/network provisioning. Manage and maintain infrastructure storage, backup, and disaster recovery solutions. Manage endpoint services in accordance with customer requirements (e.g. GPO/OU Provisioning and Management, Operating System/Patches/Software Provisioning and Management, Golden image Provisioning and Management). Ensure compliance with customer requirements, IM8, security policies and system access controls. Manage capacity planning and system reliability across the infrastructure, providing regular updates, operational insights, and escalation support during monthly meetings, incidents, changes, and upgrades.

Competency Requirements:

Minimum 10 years of experience in infrastructure support, troubleshooting and at least 3 of the technical domains listed above. Strong knowledge of servers, virtualisation, storage, and endpoint management. Leadership skills with proven ability to mentor and manage technical teams. Familiarity with security best practices and compliance standards. Strong project management, organisational, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Experience with leading a small team of at least 8 members. Experience with performing CIS hardening on WinTel & REHL, GPO deployment, and security assessment and remediation ITIL Foundation v4 Certified Good knowledge of networking (IP addressing, routing, VLANs)
