Tesla is seeking a highly motivated and process-driven Logistics Analyst to serve as the returnable packaging liaison within our supply chain organization. This role addresses a critical ownership gap across returnable packaging shipments by establishing a single-threaded owner and escalation point for all returnable shipment issues in transit. As the centralized logistics point of contact, you will partner closely with site analysts, carriers, brokers, the returnable packaging team, and supplier stakeholders to ensure fast issue resolution, consistent execution, and standardized carrier performance.

This role covers returnable shipments across Tesla sites, with end-to-end ownership of exception management. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem solver with strong cross-functional collaboration skills, a keen eye for operational efficiency, and the ability to drive accountability across internal teams and external partners.

Responsibilities

  • Consult with supply chain managers, site analysts, carriers, brokers, and other stakeholders to determine the role of IT and logistics systems (TMS, ERP, WMS) in returnable packaging operations and identify opportunities to improve efficiency through system enhancements and process redesign
  • Research and vevaluate emerging technologies (IoT sensors, automated tracking platforms, AI/ML for predictive exception detection, etc.) to assess whether they would increase organizational efficiency in shipment visibility, exception management, and carrier performance
  • Analyze costs and benefits of IT system upgrades, automation initiatives, and technology integrations to help stakeholders decide on investments that improve returnable packaging logistics networks; oversee the installation, configuration, customization, and deployment of new logistics technology solutions and system integrations across the returnable packaging network, working in close partnership with IT teams
  • Study current logistics computer systems and procedures; design and implement improvements that add functionality, optimize data flows, and enhance overall system efficiency for packaging returnables tracking, visibility, and performance monitoring
  • Design and configure new or enhanced system solutions (including shipment visibility tools, automated exception management workflows, and carrier performance dashboards); test systems to ensure they function as expected and meet business requirements
  • Develop and maintain complex SQL queries, data models, and validation processes to extract, analyze, and interpret logistics data from multiple enterprise systems; design and build interactive Tableau/Power BI dashboards and reports that deliver actionable insights for data-driven decision making on carrier performance and shipment exception trends
  • Prepare comprehensive technical documentation, including system workflows, user guides, instruction manuals, and specifications; train end users and stakeholders on new or enhanced systems and processes to support adoption, compliance, and ongoing efficiency

Requirements

  • Degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering or equivalent in experience and evidence of exceptional ability 
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in high-volume manufacturing logistics, supply chain, or relatd field
  • Knowledge of freight forwarding terms, standards, Incoterms, and cross-border logistics operations across the US, Mexico, and Canada, including customs documentation and regulatory requirements
  • Experience with ERP and TMS systems; ability to identify process gaps and collaborate with systems teams to implement improvements
  • Proven track record of implementing process improvement initiatives, including cost reduction and operational efficiency gains; strong problem-solving and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish required
  • Knowledge of SQL and Tableau preferred
