Lease Connectivity Engineer, Data Center Infrastructure

Meta's Data Center Project Development organization is seeking a Lease Connectivity Engineer to support the design and construction of network and power connectivity infrastructure for leased data center facilities. Our leased data center portfolio is a critical component of Meta's global compute infrastructure, enabling the scale and reliability required to support billions of users. In this role, you will serve as a subject matter expert on connectivity systems — including fiber, power, and network infrastructure — bridging the gap between landlord-provided facilities and Meta's technical requirements. You will collaborate with internal engineering teams, external landlords, utilities, and carriers to ensure seamless, on-time delivery of connectivity capacity.
Responsibilities
Lead end-to-end connectivity design and delivery for leased data center facilities, including fiber optic infrastructure, dark fiber procurement, carrier interconnection, and power utility coordination from site selection through commissioning Serve as the primary technical liaison between Meta's network engineering teams, real estate and leasing teams, landlords, colocation providers, and external carriers to define and validate connectivity requirements for leased sites Develop and review connectivity design packages, including pathway and conduit routing, meet-me room layouts, demarcation point specifications, and fiber plant documentation for leased and colocation facilities Evaluate landlord and carrier proposals for technical compliance with Meta's connectivity standards, providing detailed gap analyses and negotiating technical remediation plans Manage connectivity project schedules and milestones across multiple concurrent leased facility projects, proactively identifying risks to on-time delivery and driving resolution with internal and external stakeholders Coordinate with utility providers and telecommunications carriers on service agreements, construction timelines, and technical specifications to ensure adequate power and fiber capacity at leased sites Collaborate with construction management, network engineering, and operations teams to oversee installation, testing, and acceptance of connectivity infrastructure, including OTDR testing, fiber certification, and end-to-end circuit validation Develop and maintain connectivity standards, design templates, and technical specifications for leased data center environments, incorporating lessons learned and evolving network requirements Provide technical oversight during construction administration phases, reviewing submittals, responding to requests for information, and conducting site walks to verify connectivity infrastructure installation quality Partner with cross-functional teams including real estate, legal, and network operations to support due diligence, lease negotiations, and capacity planning for new and existing leased data center sites
Qualifications
8+ years of experience in data center connectivity design, construction, or network infrastructure engineering within leased, colocation, or hyperscale data center environments Experience with fiber optic infrastructure design and delivery, including outside plant (OSP) and inside plant (ISP) fiber systems, conduit routing, splice planning, and carrier interconnection Experience coordinating with telecommunications carriers, dark fiber providers, and utility companies on service delivery, technical specifications, and construction timelines Experience reviewing and interpreting connectivity design drawings, specifications, and construction documents including pathway plans, fiber schedules, and meet-me room layouts Experience managing multiple concurrent infrastructure projects across geographically distributed leased or colocation data center sites Knowledge of data center power and network infrastructure standards, including ANSI/TIA, BICSI, and relevant building codes applicable to critical facility connectivity systems Experience communicating technical connectivity requirements and project status in writing to cross-functional stakeholders including real estate, legal, network engineering, and operations teams Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements) Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews) Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies Familiarity with network routing, optical transport, and wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) technologies as they relate to data center interconnection Experience using project management and design collaboration platforms such as Autodesk Construction Cloud, Bluebeam, or similar tools in a data center construction context Experience with colocation and leased data center contract structures, including technical annexes, service level agreements, and landlord connectivity obligations BICSI Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) or equivalent industry certification in data center infrastructure
Compensation: $150,000/year to $209,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
