We have an exciting opportunity to join Siemens Mobility as a Lead Project Engineering Manager in CIS within our Rail Infrastructure business. In this role, you will report to the Head of SCADA & SISS Engineering and take full accountability for delivery of all engineering works within SCADA and SISS portfolios throughout the full project lifecycle. This includes pre-qualification, bids and tenders, to customer requirements elicitation and capture, through architecture definition, design, development, validation, testing, approvals and installation, entry into service and hand-back.

You will provide functional leadership to Project Engineers (PEs) from a mix of disciplines including SCADA, SISS, Electrification and Plant and Civils Design. In this role, you are likely to become a member of the tender and delivery teams being created to purse several highly significant opportunities delivering the UK’s leading rail project, High Speed 2.

You’ll make an impact by

  • Being the champion for ensuring the safe delivery of projects with responsibilities for Engineering Safety, CDM compliance, Health and Safety legislation, Company procedures including development of the Project Safety Plan
  • Allocating engineering resources to projects for the preparation of engineering plans, specifications, designs, implementation, test, delivery and commissioning to ensure these are delivered to time, quality, and cost parameters agreed with Project and Commercial management
  • Ensuring the engineering community create and monitor engineering plans to report progress against budget and timeline, taking proactive and decisive remedial action when required
  • Preparing and maintaining project resource schedules, proactively identifying and updating resource requests to resource owners, ensuring maximum utilisation of staff within the engineering teams
  • Working with the Head of SCADA and SISS Engineering to achieve efficiencies in project and system engineering delivery while fostering engineering excellence, promoting consistent design practices and the identification/adoption of new processes, tools and methods of working
  • Maintaining continuous communication with contractors and customers in the development and implementation of projects to ensure a uniformity of purpose and common targets

Your success will be grounded by

  • Established professional status and credibility within the UK rail industry with experience of SISS, Line/Station Management Systems, Traction Power SCADA and/or Asset Management systems
  • Experience of design and delivery within a multidiscipline environment
  • Strong and proven track record of managing small to large multidisciplinary teams
  • Rail systems engineering experience of requirements specification engineering and management, design for robustness across the whole system lifecycle, safe-by-design, system integration and final verification
  • Demonstrates the ability to operate effectively in environments requiring informed, calculated risk-taking
  • Background in multi‑discipline environments such as SCADA, SISS, control systems, telecoms, M&E or line wide system integration and software‑intensive systems (desirable)
