We are seeking for a Lead Principal Engineer - WLAN Systems to drive the architecture, design, validation, and successful commercialization of advanced WLAN PHY solutions. In this leadership role, you will work closely with cross-functional teams across RF, MAC, Firmware, and Hardware domains to deliver innovative wireless technologies through both pre-silicon and post-silicon development phases. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in wireless communications, signal processing, PHY-layer design, RF systems, and silicon bring-up, along with a proven track record of technical leadership, problem-solving, and mentoring teams to bring cutting-edge wireless products from concept to market.

Your role
Key responsibilities in your new role :

  • Serve as a technical expert within the WLAN Systems team, leading the design, development, and commercialization of advanced WLAN PHY solutions.
  • Drive system architecture, design enhancements, and implementation of key PHY design blocks across multiple projects.
  • Provide technical recommendations and proposals to support strategic technology and product decisions.
  • Lead cross-functional teams in translating system requirements into robust PHY implementations and RTL deliverables.
  • Identify post-silicon bring-up issues and drive PHY-layer design improvements based on silicon learnings.
  • Collaborate with RF and Analog teams to define RF specifications and develop accurate system-level simulation models.
  • Work closely with MAC, Firmware, Hardware, and RF teams to define, document, and validate PHY interfaces.
  • Drive continuous improvements in workflows, methodologies, and design processes to enhance productivity and quality.
  • Support silicon bring-up, validation, and characterization activities to verify design updates and enhancements.
  • Analyze and resolve complex cross-layer issues involving WLAN PHY, MAC, RF, Firmware, and board-level systems.
  • Identify design and process gaps, propose corrective actions, and ensure adherence to established design methodologies.
  • Mentor and train team members, fostering technical growth and knowledge sharing within the organization.
  • Create technical documentation, design collateral, training material, and customer-facing content as required.
  • Partner with stakeholders across global teams to ensure successful project execution and product delivery.

Your profile
Qualifications and skills to help you succeed 

  • Proven experience leading wireless systems or design teams and successfully delivering products from concept to commercial deployment.
  • Strong foundation in Communication Theory, Signal Processing, and Wireless Communication Systems, with the ability to analyze and resolve complex system-level challenges.
  • Deep understanding of PHY-layer design and algorithms, including carrier detection, timing and frequency synchronization, AGC, filters, demodulators, tracking loops, decoders, and their implementation in wireless and wireline modem systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of RF architectures, RF impairments, and their impact on overall system performance.
  • Hands-on experience in post-silicon chip bring-up, validation, and debugging, with proficiency in using lab equipment such as spectrum analyzers, signal generators, and lab automation tools.
  • Expert-level proficiency in MATLAB and C programming, including fixed-point model development and validation.
  • Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills using C, GDB, crash analysis, and stack trace debugging techniques.
  • Good understanding of wireless communication standards, including IEEE 802.11, IEEE 802.15, and 3GPP specifications.
  • Working knowledge of C++, Python, Tcl, SystemC, and High-Level Synthesis (HLS) tools is an added advantage.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within large, global, and cross-functional engineering teams.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and drive technical excellence across projects.
