In this role, you will serve as the diagnostic expert and technical resource for all technicians working on Tesla's Optimus humanoid robot. You will provide advanced troubleshooting support, develop diagnostic procedures, and conduct hands-on training to ensure efficient repair validation and continuous improvement across the program.
As a successful candidate, you have strong electrical diagnostic expertise and a proven ability to train and mentor technicians at all skill levels.

Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced diagnostic support and serve as the primary escalation point for challenging diagnostic cases across Optimus robot subsystems
  • Troubleshoot complex electrical and electromechanical failures using systematic diagnostic workflows and best practices
  • Develop, validate, and document new diagnostic procedures for emerging failure modes. Create clear, detailed work instructions, troubleshooting guides, and maintain the diagnostic documentation library
  • Conduct hands-on diagnostic training for technicians and develop training materials, presentations, and practical exercises
  • Partner with engineering teams to understand design changes, participate in root cause analysis, and provide field feedback on common failures
  • Track diagnostic trends, document lessons learned, and generate reports on diagnostic effectiveness and common issues
  • Maintain diagnostic tools and equipment inventory. Enforce and adhere to lab safety protocols, always ensuring a safe and organized work environment
  • Support the development and training of technicians

Requirements

  • 3+ years of hands-on diagnostic and repair experience in manufacturing, robotics, automotive, aerospace, or similar industry
  • Strong electrical diagnostic expertise including reading schematics, wiring diagrams, and PCB layouts
  • Proficiency with diagnostic equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and signal generators
  • Understanding of power systems, motor controls, sensor technologies, and communication protocols (CAN, Ethernet)
  • Prior experience training or mentoring other technicians. Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to varying skill levels. Strong technical writing and documentation abilities
  • Experience with robotic systems, mechatronics, or complex electromechanical systems is a plus. Familiarity with Python or other scripting languages for diagnostic automation is a plus
  • A positive, solution-oriented attitude, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities and rapidly shift focus. A strong sense of ownership, responsibility, and accountability for your work

Expected Compensation

$41.30 - $64.16/hour + cash and stock awards + benefits

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
