Internship, Recruiting (Winter/Spring 2027)
Description
Internship, Technical Sourcing — AI & Robotics and Terafab
What to Expect
As a Technical Sourcing Intern, you will help build and run search strategies that find that talent beyond degree, years of experience, or geography. You will support recruiting partners across AI & Robotics and Terafab, learning how to map technical markets and turn research into qualified talent pipelines. Tesla demands a recruiting engine as innovative as its engineering teams. This internship is a chance to help build it.
Location: Palo Alto, CA
Responsibilities
- Partner with recruiters and hiring managers on AI & Robotics and Terafab initiatives to understand roles, team priorities, and develop search and engagement candidate campaigns for each domain
- Build and execute sourcing strategies for near-term openings and longer-term pipelines across autonomy, robotics, AI systems, and semiconductor manufacturing
- Use the full sourcing toolkit: Boolean and X-ray search, LinkedIn and other professional networks, GitHub and open-source communities, publications, patents, conference lists, university and lab maps, and direct outreach to identify people who can build and scale Tesla’s products
- Research and map talent markets relevant to Tesla’s AI and robotics work, including Full Self-Driving software and AI infrastructure, Optimus and Digital Optimus (mechanical, electrical, controls, perception, and simulation), and Terafab (logic, memory, packaging, test, lithography, process, and yield)
- Coordinate ever-changing requests while maintaining efficient communication between candidates, recruiters, and other stakeholders
- Prioritize timely follow-up and follow-through, thoroughness in work product, and attention to detail
- Update candidate records in recruiting systems and maintain data integrity so tracking and reporting stay accurate
- Calibrate searches with feedback from screens and interviews, and track what converts so strategy improves week over week
- Identify opportunities to improve candidate experience, and support a high bar in outreach and handoffs
- Assist in the coordination of other recruiting activities as needed
- Look for places where a simple tool, list, or process would make sourcing faster, and help build it
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a degree in Human Resources, Business, Engineering, or a related field
- Available for a minimum of 12+ weeks, able to work full-time (40 hours per week) and on-site
- Self-starter: results-oriented, resourceful, analytical, innovative, and intellectually curious, and willing to take initiative
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Strong ability to embrace and adapt to change, and to learn quickly in a fast-paced environment
- Curiosity about how advanced technical products are built, and the willingness to learn the language of AI, robotics, and semiconductors well enough to source credibly
- Evidence of research skill: coursework, projects, clubs, prior internships, or personal work that required finding hard-to-find information and turning it into a clear recommendation
- Experience and proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, and similar)
- Previous work experience or internships in a related field is a plus
- Familiarity with at least one sourcing or research surface (LinkedIn, GitHub, Google Scholar, patent search, or similar) is useful; mastery is not required
Nice to Have
- Exposure to technical recruiting, university recruiting, or talent research
- A project, internship, or academic focus in AI/ML, robotics, computer engineering, or semiconductor-related fields
- Experience building lightweight tools or automations (spreadsheets, scripts, or simple workflows) to scale repetitive research
