Position Summary

Samsung Austin Semiconductor is seeking a highly experienced and innovative Staff Engineer – Infra Innovation Ops to serve as a technical leader and cross-functional integrator across cost engineering, Infra systems optimization, equipment management, digital transformation, spare-parts supply chain, and operational innovation. The Staff Engineer will identify opportunities to improve Infra reliability, efficiency, cost effectiveness, visibility, and scalability through the effective application of technology, data, systems, automation, and standardized processes. The successful candidate will work closely with Infra Engineering, Operations, Facilities, Procurement, Supply Chain, IT, Finance, Cost Engineering, equipment owners, and other stakeholders to develop and implement solutions that improve operational performance while supporting Samsung Austin Semiconductor's long-term growth.

Role and Responsibilities

Here’s What You’ll Be Responsible For:

• 
  Provide technical leadership for Infra systems supporting semiconductor manufacturing operations.
• Develop technology roadmaps aligned with operational and business objectives.
• Lead digital transformation initiatives to replace manual or fragmented processes with scalable digital solutions.
• Serve as a subject-matter expert (SME) to translate operational requirements into technical solutions.
• Evaluate and implement emerging technologies, including AI/ML, IoT, predictive analytics, and digital twins.
• Identify and quantify cost-saving opportunities across CapEx, OpEx, and maintenance strategies.
• Develop data-driven models to analyze Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), equipment lifecycles, and technology investments.
• Establish systems and governance to improve visibility, control, and tracking of Infra costs.
• Conduct should-cost analysis, benchmarking, and cost modeling to optimize spend.
• Analyze and make recommendations to help improve cost control focusing on major and minor indices for each sub-department’s processes and programs
• Implement mechanisms to track cost-engineering initiatives from identification through realized savings.
• Lead the management of Infra equipment systems and associated digital platforms.
• Optimize equipment lifecycle management, asset visibility, and maintenance planning.
• Integrate equipment management systems with ERP, CMMS, procurement, and other enterprise platforms.
• Drive improvements in equipment utilization, reliability, and maintenance effectiveness.
• Establish standardized data structures, workflows, and performance dashboards.
• Partner with Supply Chain and Procurement to optimize spare-parts forecasting and inventory levels.
• Develop data-driven strategies for critical-spare identification and obsolescence management.
• Reduce excess/obsolete inventory while balancing operational risk and equipment availability.
• Lead continuous-improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, and engineering methodologies to standardize global processes.
• Lead the deployment of large-scale projects that are cross-functional in nature and have visibility to company executives.
• Project management, Daily/Weekly/Monthly metric reporting, and status updates.
• Expectation is to have proficiency in project management, reporting, data visualization, and data-mining.

Skills and Qualifications

Here's what you'll need:

• Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Semiconductor manufacturing or semiconductor facilities/infrastructure experience.
• Experience with equipment management systems, CMMS, ERP, MES, or related enterprise platforms.
• Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems.
• Experience with spare-parts management, inventory optimization, or maintenance supply chain.
• Experience with Power BI, SQL, Python, data analytics, or similar analytical technologies.
• Experience with AI/ML, predictive analytics, IoT, digital twins, or industrial automation.
• Lean Six Sigma certification or equivalent continuous-improvement experience.
• Experience developing business cases and demonstrating financial ROI.
• Experience managing technology roadmaps and large-scale transformation programs.

The current base salary range for this role is between $131,000 - $174,500. Individual base pay rates will depend on factors including duties, work location, education, skills, qualifications and experience. Total compensation for this position will include a competitive benefits package and may include participation in company incentive compensation programs, which are based on factors to include organizational and individual performance.
