The Platforms and Devices team encompasses Google's various computing software platforms across environments (desktop, mobile, applications), as well as our first party devices and services that combine the best of Google AI, software, and hardware. Teams across this area research, design, and develop new technologies to make our user's interaction with computing faster and more seamless, building innovative experiences for our users around the world.Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Responsibilities
- Identify flaws and issues with hardware components. Solve and analyze key issues, risks, or trade-offs, and address complex hardware failures by driving corrective solutions.
- Evaluate hardware design feasibility based on product requirements. Identify and customize the design solution based on trade-offs in packaging, performance, power or technology selection, and scope hardware project. Help develop the roadmap in collaboration with internal partners/external vendors.
- Lead and approve activities in a discipline of hardware design, architecture, technology, or development for a product or system of high complexity. Demonstrate a track record of accurately predicting consequences of hardware design decisions in cross-functional trade-off discussions.
- Balance hardware performance priorities against power, cost, and cross-functional considerations. Be responsible for meeting hardware product performance and regulatory specifications, if applicable.
- Explain design decisions to external business customers and industry partners, as needed.
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a specialized field (e.g., Optics, Sensors, Audio/DSP, etc.), or equivalent practical experience.
- 6 years of experience working in a health sensing technical environment.
- 3 years of experience in technical leadership.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field (e.g., Optics, Sensors, Audio/DSP).
