As Head of Data & AI (f/m/d) based in Erlangen, Amberg or Atlanta (US) you will lead the IT Data & AI agenda for Smart Infrastructure Electrical Products (SI EP). Your mission: Shape innovation and transformation
- Identify and leverage AI opportunities across the entire SI EP value chain—from R&D and manufacturing to supply chain and sales—while strictly distinguishing sustainable business cases from short-term hype.
- Integrate cutting-edge best practices from diverse industries and external environments to drive internal innovation.
- Lead a global team of data architects, AI consultants, and developers, fostering a culture of professional excellence, constructive dissent, and continuous experimentation.
- Collaborate with business units and management to identify, prioritize, and implement data and AI initiatives backed by solid business cases, measurable ROI, and a consistent "fail-fast" project culture.
- Oversee the data and AI architecture, ensuring top-tier security, compliance, and governance while implementing pragmatic solutions to accelerate innovation cycles within these guardrails.
- Manage the end-to-end lifecycle, operation, and continuous evolution of IT solutions.
- Align closely with Global Function IT platform owners to ensure seamless integration and synergy across the organization.
- Evaluate emerging technologies to proactively introduce new approaches and anchor a data-driven mindset throughout the company.
- Direct budget management and strategic resource planning to evolve the organization in strict alignment with business requirements.
Your defining qualities
- Education: Master’s degree in computer science, business informatics, or a comparable field.
- Experience & Skills
- Extensive strategic leadership in data and AI landscapes (tech, industry, or consulting) with a proven track record of implementing AI in large-scale production.
- Proven technical and managerial leadership of international, interdisciplinary teams with a passion for talent coaching and development.
- Deep understanding of modern data architectures (Lake, Warehouse, Mesh), cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP), and enterprise AI/ML, including their opportunities and limitations.
- Experience with current enterprise architecture methods and frameworks.
- Strong proficiency in the Microsoft development stack.
- Excellent communication at top management levels, combining fact-based decision-making with the flexibility to adapt within international teams
- Languages & willingness to travel:
- You are fluent in English and German.
- Willingness to travel up to 10%, primarily in EMEA and the U.S.
