Bloomberg is looking for an experienced and strategic Head of Benefits, Americas to lead our benefits strategy and programs across the region. This is a highly visible leadership role with responsibility for the benefits experience of approximately 14,000 employees in the U.S.and approximately 500 employees across eight other countries in the broader Americas region, while ensuring our programs remain competitive, sustainable and aligned with the evolving needs of our business and workforce.

As the senior benefits leader for the Americas, you will be the face of U.S. benefits, with oversight of our full portfolio of health and welfare, retirement, wellbeing and time away/leave programs. You will bring a regional perspective to the role, navigating the distinct market, regulatory and employee needs across the countries we operate in throughout the Americas. This position does not include Compensation — your focus will be exclusively on the benefits and time away programs that support our people’s health, wellbeing and future.

You will serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership and key partners across HR, providing expertise on benefits strategy, market trends, program design, governance and complex benefits matters. You will have the opportunity to shape programs that employees value, understand and engage with, while balancing the needs of our people with the priorities of the business.  You will need the depth of expertise to oversee sophisticated programs while bringing the leadership presence, judgment and communication skills to represent Benefits with employees and senior stakeholders.

We’ll trust you to:

  • Drive financial accountability: Oversee significant benefits spend and program economics, including budgets, renewals, vendor investments and plan changes. Bring strong financial acumen to benefits decision-making, balancing employee experience and market competitiveness with cost effectiveness, long-term sustainability and risk.
  • Shape the employee experience: Create and evolve benefits programs that employees value, understand and engage with — from health and wellness to retirement and leaves — with a strong focus on the overall employee experience.
  • Be the voice of U.S. benefits: Serve as the senior benefits subject matter expert and primary representative for U.S. benefits, providing clear, thoughtful guidance to employees, HR partners and senior leadership.
  • Lead and develop the team: Coach and develop a team of six benefits professionals, establishing priorities, building capability and creating opportunities for continued growth.

  • Drive operational excellence: Build on existing processes, controls and data transfers to benefits vendors and key internal stakeholders. Develop a forward-looking vision for benefits operations, identifying opportunities to streamline processes, strengthen controls and leverage technology.
  • Leverage insights: Use benefits analytics, utilization trends, employee feedback, market intelligence and competitor benchmarking to continuously evaluate and refine our programs. Translate data into meaningful insights and recommendations for senior leadership.
  • Champion wellbeing: Ensure mental health, resilience and holistic wellbeing are embedded into Bloomberg’s broader benefits strategy and programs.
  • Collaborate deeply: Partner across HR, Payroll, Finance, Legal and other key functions, building strong relationships with senior stakeholders to deliver an exceptional benefits offering.
  • Ensure strong governance and compliance: Stay ahead of regulatory developments and ensure benefits and leave programs meet applicable requirements and governance standards, partnering with Legal and other subject matter experts as appropriate.
  • Communicate with impact: Lead effective employee communications around benefits programs and changes, translating complex topics into clear, accessible information that helps employees understand and make the most of their benefits.
  • Lead through complexity: Provide leadership and sound judgment during complex or sensitive employee benefits matters, bringing an empathetic and employee-focused approach.
  • Drive continuous improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance benefits processes, technology, controls and service delivery while continually improving the employee experience.
  • Act as a visible champion for Benefits: Build credibility and strong relationships across the organization and ensure Benefits has a strong, trusted voice in broader people and business discussions.

You’ll need to have:

  • 15+ years of progressive experience in employee benefits, including substantial leadership experience within a mid-to-large, complex organization.
  • Experience supporting a large and complex employee population, ideally at comparable scale, with an understanding of the governance, financial and operational requirements associated with sophisticated benefits programs.
  • Deep expertise across U.S. health and welfare, retirement, wellbeing and time away/leave programs, with the ability to operate as a credible subject matter expert across the full benefits portfolio.
  • Significant regional or global benefits experience, with demonstrated responsibility for benefits programs across multiple countries and the ability to navigate differing market practices, regulatory environments and employee needs.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and executing benefits strategy, including plan design, benchmarking, renewals, vendor management and program evolution.
  • Strong financial acumen and experience overseeing significant benefits spend, with demonstrated accountability for budgets, forecasting, program costs and vendor investments.
  • Experience supporting a large and complex employee population, with an understanding of the scale, governance and operational requirements associated with sophisticated benefits programs.

  • Proven people leadership experience, with a track record of coaching, developing and motivating high-performing teams.
  • Experience managing sophisticated vendor relationships, including contract negotiations, performance management, service-level expectations and vendor governance.
  • Experience advising senior leaders and influencing decisions involving complex benefits, financial and employee considerations.
  • Strong executive presence and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex benefits topics clearly to audiences ranging from individual employees to senior leadership.
  • Strong analytical and commercial judgment, including experience using benefits data, costs, utilization, employee insights and market trends to inform decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and lead through change in a complex, fast-paced environment.
  • A highly collaborative approach and the ability to build trusted partnerships across HR, Payroll, Finance, Legal and other functions.
  • Strong judgment, discretion and empathy when navigating sensitive employee matters.

We’d love to see:

  • Experience leading benefits for a large U.S. employee population as part of a broader regional or global benefits remit.
  • Experience within financial services, technology, professional services or another complex, highly competitive talent environment.
  • Experience overseeing sophisticated self-funded health and welfare programs.
  • Deep familiarity with U.S. retirement programs, including 401(k) plan strategy and governance.
  • Significant experience with U.S. leave and time away programs and the evolving regulatory environment.
  • Experience leading major benefits transformations, vendor changes, plan redesigns or other large-scale initiatives.
  • Experience improving benefits operations through technology, process redesign, automation or enhanced data integration.
  • A track record of using data, employee feedback and external benchmarking to shape benefits strategy and improve the employee experience.
