We are searching for self-driven, passionate test engineers who will be responsible for building and developing test systems for the next generation of iPhone, taking a lead role in the debugging of HW/SW issues. The candidate will play a meaningful role in the development of Apple products, collaborating with Apple internal cross-functional teams and contract manufacturers, taking a lead role in design, test and manufacturing with a very high bar of quality.
Description
As an iPhone Hardware Test Engineer, you will be responsible for the electrical and functional testing with iPhone main logic boards and form factors. Your role will involve designing and defining specifications for test hardware and software.
Apple's custom test solutions are sophisticated embedded systems that optimize for space efficiency, energy consumption, reliability, scalability, and cost. These systems integrate the latest embedded SOCs, custom analog and digital instruments, power systems, mechatronics, and real-time operating systems.
This position uniquely combines hardware and software expertise. For every new feature added to the iPhone, you will develop and implement new tests in collaboration with our third-party test vendor partners, system engineers, and factory teams. Your creativity in finding better ways to accomplish tasks is highly valued. You will work closely with the iPhone Hardware Engineering team to influence design for testability and develop innovative testing methods with minimal test access. You will be challenged to achieve more with fewer resources.
Responsibilities
- Participate in the design, test and development of the next generation iPhone from concept to mass production
- Develop main logic board and system-level SW tests for functional integrity and high performance
- Perform results review, data analysis, post-processing, and related tools development
Minimum Qualifications
- B.S. (or M.S.) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent industry experience
- Understanding of best practices for test setups and executions
- Excellent communication skills in both English and Chinese
- Good coding skills in C/C++, Python, Shell, etc.
- Familiarity with micro-architecture and AP SoC architecture
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong fundamentals in electrical engineering, with experience designing embedded microcontroller systems, analog instrumentation, and DC power supplies
- Experience with OS services, specifically in kernel or driver development and debugging; familiarity with BSD/Mach-like kernels is a plus
- Proficiency in data post-processing and visualization
- Direct experience with high-volume computers, mobile devices, or consumer electronics
- A naturally curious mind paired with both intuitive and rigorous problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of algorithms, machine learning, or artificial intelligence (AI) is highly desirable
