Description

Meta is seeking an experienced Gigawatt Site Project Director to own delivery outcomes and capital risk for a single gigawatt-scale data center campus. Infrastructure Data Center (IDC) is responsible for Meta's data center strategy; Design, Engineering & Construction (DEC) is accountable for engineering and construction execution. The DEC Delivery organization manages construction execution of all data center builds. This role is the owner of project outcomes for one 1GW+ mega cluster — a capital program an order of magnitude larger than our traditional campus, delivered in roughly a third of the time of Meta's prior campuses. The campus is a complex multi-prime structure with an integrator. As owner of project outcomes for the campus, the role leads the DEC matrix teams — Delivery, Quality, Project Controls, and Design — in a team-captain capacity, integrating them into a single accountable delivery outcome.

Responsibilities

Role model and reinforce a high-performing, safety-focused culture across all internal and external teams on the campus; respect and reinforce the Global Safety Manager's independent stop-work authority Own delivery outcomes and capital risk for a single gigawatt campus — safety, schedule, cost, quality, and provision readiness — from capital commitment through turnover Carry decision authority and fiduciary accountability at the capex focal point. Make the irreversible structural, commercial, and sequencing decisions concentrated in the first months of the build, when the cost of error is highest and recovery time is shortest Lead matrix teams — Delivery, Quality, Project Controls, and Design — integrating them into one accountable outcome without holding their reporting lines Own the multi-prime execution structure at the project level: the integrator relationship, prime contractor interfaces, demarcation and scope-gap management, and the commercial interfaces across prime scopes Direct the campus's contracted execution model in partnership with the Operations Director's vendor governance — accepting or rejecting deployments on supervision, training, and material readiness grounds Negotiate and approve construction change orders directly with contractors and vendors at campus scale; escalate and resolve complex MEP, civil, cost, schedule, and contract issues Proactively and aggressively identify and mitigate risk ahead of the critical path, with particular attention to the early civil window — site access and logistics, earthwork and grading, utility and dry-utility coordination, foundations, and AHJ engagement — where schedule loss is unrecoverable Apply the product-line delivery method of record supplied by the Product Leads, adapting it to site conditions, AHJ requirements, and sequencing without diluting product intent or non-negotiables Take handoff from Site Development, Real Estate, and Energy as a receiving stakeholder — entitled land, permitted site, and committed power — and own construction delivery from that point forward Lead, manage, and develop the project team — set performance expectations, provide coaching and timely feedback, and build the capability of the campus Construction Managers and matrixed staff in partnership with the ACM Own the senior relationship with the campus's general contractor and trade partner leadership, navigating commercial and performance issues at the corporate level of the largest data center builders in the US Communicate campus risk and status to VP and executive leadership, with proactive mitigation rather than escalation after the fact Interface across precon and planning, contracting, legal, business controls, engineering, design, and facility operations leadership Travel as required to the campus, team meetings, and vendor locations. Expect substantial on-site presence during the active build

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or equivalent technical degree 20+ years of megaproject experience, including principal or technical-executive accountability on programs of comparable scale and complexity Demonstrated ownership of capital risk on a megaproject — not solely schedule or field execution accountability Experience with multi-prime delivery structures, integrator models, and the commercial interfaces created by third-party or project financing Experience with ground-up construction at campus scale, delivered on fast-track, integrated, and overlapping design and construction schedules Experience with the design and deployment of technical electrical and mechanical systems Experience with a variety of construction contract delivery methods commonly used in the US and/or EMEA, and with negotiating change orders and commercial terms directly Experience working with local, state, and national construction codes, permitting authorities, and health and safety requirements Experience managing contractor, subcontractor, and vendor relationships, and working with standard practices in the design and construction industry Experience in Primavera P6, MS Project, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Advanced degree or equivalent in engineering and/or business administration Data center development and construction experience, including gigawatt-scale or hyperscale campus delivery Experience with first-of-kind or novel product introduction at volume, including production-readiness gating Experience governing large contracted construction workforces at scale, including qualification, training gates, and performance management Experience delivering a campus on a compressed schedule relative to industry norms — roughly a third of conventional duration Overall understanding of building systems including mechanical, electrical, data cabling, building management systems, and fire protection in a datacenter environment Construction management software experience including but not limited to Procore, ACC, Unifier Knowledge of CPM scheduling methodologies and schedule-quality assurance at program level Demonstrated success operating in matrixed organization structures, leading outcomes without direct authority over contributing teams

Compensation: $220,000/year to $265,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
