FPC Integration Engineer
Overview We are seeking a full-time FPC Integration Engineer at Garmin's U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. In this role, you will be responsible for bringing key hardware components from supplier selection through production readiness into fully functional product designs. This role serves as the technical bridge between product design teams and component suppliers to ensure components are properly integrated, validated, optimized, and manufacturable. Essential Functions Component Bring Up and Integration Lead engineering functional bring-up of new components on prototype and production hardware Integrate hardware components into product architectures Configure relevant interfaces (power, communication, control) Develop and tune initialization sequences, timing parameters, and power sequencing while also validating component performance across operating conditions Supplier Technical Interface (FAE- like function) Act as primary technical interface between company engineering teams and component vendors Review specifications, schematics, and interface requirements Collaborate with suppliers to resolve integration issues and optimize performance as well as influence supplier designs to meet product requirements Support vendor selection and technical evaluation System Design Collaboration Work with electrical, mechanical, firmware, and product design teams to ensure robust integration Define component requirements including electrical, mechanical, thermal, and performance characteristics while also supporting schematic and layout reviews Ensure compliance with power, thermal, and signal integrity constraints as well as developing validation plans and test procedures Validation and Production Support Develop validation plans and test procedures, and performance characterization methods to confirm component readiness Support Design, factory prototype, pilot run, and production ramp phases Assist manufacturing teams in resolving component-related production issues while driving yield improvements and long-term reliability Travel required as needed to support business objectives Basic Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, or another related degree AND a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience Demonstrated expertise in the architecture, integration, validation and troubleshooting of at least one hardware component technology domain Thorough knowledge of lab debug methods, including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers, power measurement, and hardware troubleshooting techniques Demonstrated knowledge of hardware interfaces, electrical requirements, communication protocols, control signals, and integration constraints Experience characterizing component performance across operating conditions to ensure technical and business requirements are met Knowledge of power, thermal, and signal integrity considerations and their impact on component and system performance Proven ability to work across electrical, mechanical, firmware, manufacturing, quality, supplier, and program teams Experience providing supplier technical leadership to improve product quality, performance, manufacturability, and innovation Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and influence skills Desired Qualifications Strong understanding of reliability concepts, failure modes, root cause analysis, and corrective action methodologies Garmin International is an equal opportunity employer.
