Summary

Do you want to help build some of the largest and most consequential enterprise and customer technology systems in the world? Join Apple’s Information Systems and Technology (IS&T) organization. IS&T is the engine behind everything Apple does for customers and for the people who build for them. It’s Apple’s central nervous system. Supporting 2.5 billion active Apple devices, processing billions of secure transactions, and keeping the technology that defines modern life running flawlessly, IS&T makes the impossible feel effortless. Do you love building solutions to handle global complexity and immense scale? Imagine what you could do here.

Enterprise Technology Services (ETS) is part of IS&T and delivers global-scale platforms and services that keep Apple's operations secure and running. The team manages identity, device security, and anti-abuse platforms — covering everything from manufacturing and repairs to software updates and activations. ETS also oversees supply chain, manufacturing, and partner integration platforms, protecting data on more than 2.5 billion devices worldwide. And when Apple prepares for a global product launch, ETS owns the systems that ramp factory production — managing serial numbers, network credentials, and verified software.

Description

We have an internal enterprise platform for integration and workflow automation which is built on Apache Camel and Flowable. Various teams across the organization approach us with their business problems such as integrating multiple systems, automating manual processes and adding human approval steps in their workflows, and we build solutions for them on the platform.

We are looking for a strong technical person who can act as a bridge between these teams and our platform. The person will work closely with different organizations within the enterprise, understand their use cases and design and deliver solutions using our integration and workflow tooling. This is a hands on role which needs good technical depth along with strong stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with various teams across the enterprise to understand their integration and process automation requirements. In many cases the problem statement will be unclear or incomplete and the person is expected to drive the discussion.
  • Design and build end to end solutions on the platform using Apache Camel and Flowable, covering message routing, system integrations and automated workflows.
  • Take the right design decisions. For example, what should be handled as an integration flow versus a long running business process, how to handle failures, retries and exceptions, and how to keep the solution maintainable.
  • Build strong working relationships with stakeholders across teams and make sure that every team becomes more confident in using the platform.
  • Convert repeating use cases into reusable patterns, reference architectures and templates so that common requirements can be handled with minimal effort over a period of time.
  • Share the real world gaps and pain points observed on the ground with the platform and engineering team so that the same can be considered in the product roadmap.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 plus years of overall experience, with a good part of it in enterprise integration or workflow automation. Should have spent recent years in a hands on solutioning or architecture role.
  • Strong hands on experience in enterprise integration, preferably Apache Camel, with good understanding of Enterprise Integration Patterns (routing, transformation, error handling, idempotency, retries, dead letter handling).
  • Experience in workflow or process automation, preferably Flowable or any other BPMN based engine, with good judgement on modelling business processes.
  • Strong solution architecture and system design skills, with the ability to break down a vague business problem into a clean and robust technical design.
  • Good communication skills, with the ability to work directly with both technical and business stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience driving adoption of an internal platform or shared service across a large organization.
  • Background in solutions engineering, technical pre-sales, integration consulting, or platform/developer enablement.
