Description

The Self Perform Mechanical Fire Sprinkler Fitter is a licensed craft professional who installs automatic fire sprinkler and fire extinguishing systems under Foreman and General Foreman direction. This role requires a current Nevada G-Card (fire sprinkler / automatic fire extinguishing systems mechanical license) and hands-on experience installing code-compliant sprinkler systems per approved drawings, NFPA requirements, and project specifications. Success means properly hung, braced, and tested systems ready for hydro, AHJ inspection, and turnover. This role will be Reno local and will require travel to multiple job sites throughout the Reno Region.

Responsibilities

  • Install wet, dry, pre-action, and related automatic fire sprinkler systems per approved drawings, manufacturer listings, NFPA-referenced requirements, and Tesla specifications
  • Fabricate and install sprinkler pipe, fittings, hangers, seismic bracing, heads, valves, and specialty devices with correct spacing, elevation, and clearances before ceiling close-in
  • Hold and maintain a current Nevada G-Card as a fire sprinkler fitter specialist; perform work under that credential and support license-of-record field compliance expectations
  • Read and interpret fire protection plans, details, riser diagrams, and work packages; flag design conflicts, missing information, and constructability issues to the Foreman or GF immediately
  • Support hydrostatic testing, flush, air tests (where required), and inspection readiness; complete punchlist and as-built markups on assigned zones
  • Coordinate with other trades in shared ceilings, mezzanines, and bays so sprinkler routing, hangers, and heads stay clear of conflicts and install sequence stays on plan
  • Follow PTPs and site EHS rules for elevated work, hot work, and live-system isolation; communicate installed quantities (pipe, heads, hangers, valves, tests) to the Foreman for Structor entry

Requirements

  • Current Nevada G-Card (fire sprinkler / automatic fire extinguishing systems mechanical license) required; license must remain active and available for AHJ, Tesla, and insurance verification
  • 3+ years of hands-on fire sprinkler installation experience on commercial, industrial, or large manufacturing projects
  • Working knowledge of NFPA 13 (or project-specified edition), listed devices, hangers/seismic bracing, head spacing, and system types (wet, dry, pre-action, deluge as applicable)
  • Ability to read fire protection drawings, details, and hydraulic notes and execute install without unauthorized field redesign
  • Full pipefitter experience preferred; orbital welding experience preferred for process or specialty pipe work that may interface with or support multi-trade mechanical fronts
  • Physical ability to work at heights, overhead, and in active construction areas on 10–12 hour field shifts while maintaining quality and safety standards
  • OSHA 10 required; OSHA 30 a plus. Ability to work in a fast-paced multi-site Reno Region environment and coordinate cleanly with other trades and AHJ inspection windows
