Are you graduating with an Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Power, Instrumentation, or a related field?
Start your engineering career with Siemens through our Electrification & Automation Field Service Engineer Training Program.
This one-year program combines technical training, mentorship, and hands-on experience at customer sites throughout the United States. You will learn how to install, test, commission, maintain, and troubleshoot the electrical systems that power data centers, factories, utilities, hospitals, renewable-energy facilities, and other critical infrastructure.
You will join a select cohort of early-career engineers and develop the technical and customer-facing skills needed to become a successful Siemens Field Service Engineer.
What you’ll experience:
The program follows a structured combination of classroom instruction and field assignments.
Technical Training
You will complete instructor-led and hands-on training at Siemens’ Electrification & Automation headquarters in Wendell, North Carolina.
Training topics include:
- Low- and medium-voltage switchgear
- Circuit breakers, protection, and power distribution
- Electrical safety, NFPA 70E, OSHA, and Lockout/Tagout
- Equipment installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance
- Electrical drawings, control circuits, and troubleshooting
- Siemens protection relays and automation systems
- SCADA, HMI, RTU, Modbus, IEC 61850, and DNP3
- Microgrids, renewable energy, and distributed energy resources
- Customer communication and service documentation
Field Experience
Between training sessions, you will travel across the United States and work alongside experienced Siemens Field Service Engineers.
You will gain real-world experience supporting:
- Data centers and critical-power facilities
- Utility substations
- Industrial and manufacturing facilities
- Commercial buildings and hospitals
- Renewable-energy and battery-storage projects
- Microgrids and electric-vehicle infrastructure
What you’ll do:
As your skills develop, you will:
- Install, test, and commission LV and MV switchgear
- Support equipment startups and site acceptance testing
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance
- Troubleshoot electrical and control-system issues
- Test circuit breakers, cables, insulation, and protective devices
- Review electrical drawings and equipment documentation
- Assist customers during equipment outages and service activities
- Document completed work and technical findings
- Follow Siemens and customer safety requirements
- Work with senior engineers, technicians, project managers, and customers
You’ll win us over by having the following qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Power, Instrumentation, or a related technical field
- Graduation before the program’s start date
- Interest in hands-on engineering and field service work
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 80%
- Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to customer sites
- Ability to perform field activities, including climbing, lifting, and working at heights with appropriate safety equipment
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship
Preferred Qualifications
- Coursework or experience in power systems or electrical distribution
- Familiarity with electrical safety practices
- Internship, laboratory, military, technician, or field experience
- Basic knowledge of switchgear, controls, automation, or protective relays
- Interest in utilities, industrial systems, data centers, or critical infrastructure

The pay range for this position is $60,000 - $80,000 annually. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
