Facilities Mechanical Engineer, HVAC
Description
The ideal candidate has experience in Operation and maintenance of facilities critical assets as well as a background in design reviews, engineering calculations, commissioning, and operation of mainly HVAC Systems including – Chilled water system cooling towers, hot-water boiler, circulation pump and dust collector. Responsible for ensuring the performance of equipment through the facility by driving the maintenance and project activities with safety and quality as high priority goals. Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing and process systems operation and maintenance is required. Experience working on overhead cranes and compressors considered added advantage.
Responsibilities
- Subject Matter Expert – Serve as the technical authority on HVAC systems including air handlers, MAUs, chillers, boilers, cooling towers, VFDs, compressors, and centrifugal pumps. Responsibility includes operation and maintenance of above-mentioned equipment c/w troubleshooting skills on electrical and control system
- Operations & Maintenance Support – Partner with maintenance and operations teams to troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and optimize facility mechanical equipment; develop and update SOPs
- Project Management – Lead time-sensitive field execution or projects from justification through completion, maintaining organized project data and schedules
- Capacity Planning & System Assessments – Conduct audits, condition assessments, and capacity trend analyses to identify upgrade needs and ensure N+1 redundancy for critical systems. Maintain necessary critical spares
- Capital Project Development – Build project justification packages using ROI, total cost of ownership, energy efficiency, reliability metrics, and schedule impact analysis
- Infrastructure Oversight – Oversee installation and repair of mechanical infrastructure including ductwork, piping, exhaust systems, wiring, VAV systems, and HVAC equipment
- Energy & Cost Optimization – Identify and develop projects driven by operational need, energy conservation, and cost reduction opportunities
- Cross-Functional Collaboration – Work closely with Design, Maintenance, and Operations teams to support facility retrofits, expansions, and manufacturing area planning. Participate in design reviews and provide operational feedback for better system reliability and efficiency
- Safety & Compliance – Ensure all operations are executed with rigorous safety and EHS standards to prevent injuries, downtime, and environmental incidents
- Training & Communication – Train facilities personnel on new systems and proper operations; communicate effectively across teams with strong verbal and written skills
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in any combination of design, construction, commissioning, or maintenance in a manufacturing or equivalent environment
- Through knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and systems including air-handlers, make-up air units, VFDs, boilers, cooling towers, compressors, chillers and exhaust fans
- Strong troubleshooting background and issue resolution
- Strong data and system analysis
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Intermediate project management skills
- Proven ability to work in a large, complex environment where you must adapt to meet company needs

Expected Compensation
$109,600 - $195,600/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefitsPay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
