Description
As a Senior Electrical Estimator at Tesla, you will play a pivotal role in driving the success of critical facility projects across Tesla’s manufacturing and infrastructure portfolio. You will bring deep technical expertise in electrical systems to deliver accurate, timely, and value-driven cost estimates while enabling rapid scaling of Tesla’s facilities at unprecedented speed. Your work will directly influence project feasibility, budgeting, and execution strategy—ensuring electrical systems are both innovative and cost-optimized.
Responsibilities
- Develop and present conceptual and detailed cost estimates for complex electrical infrastructure projects across Tesla facilities
- Perform comprehensive electrical quantity takeoffs from construction drawings, specifications, single-line diagrams (SLDs), electrical schedules, and system layouts using tools like Bluebeam, Revit, and estimating software
- Lead estimation for all aspects of electrical systems, including: High Voltage (HV), Medium Voltage (MV), and Low Voltage (LV) distribution systems. Electrical power distribution design and coordination (including switchgear, transformers, MCCs, panels, and bus ducts)
- Create what-if scenario estimates to support strategic decision-making, including alternative power supply options, equipment substitutions, and phased construction
- Forecast cost impacts from design changes, scope variations, and change orders during project execution—ensuring accurate and timely updates to baseline estimates
- Support project funding requests by preparing detailed cost breakdowns and financial justifications for leadership and stakeholders
- Provide expert input into procurement bidding processes, including bid evaluation, vendor cost analysis, and technical clarifications
Requirements
- 5+ years of progressive experience in electrical estimating, preferably in industrial, manufacturing, or large-scale infrastructure projects
- Preferred experience with core and shell builds, interior fit out scopes tied to data centers, health facilities, warehouse and distribution, battery/clean energy manufacturing
- Expertise in reading and interpreting electrical drawings, SLDs, electrical schedules, and coordination drawings
- Strong understanding of power system design principles, load calculations, and power studies (short circuit, arc flash, coordination)
- In-depth knowledge of NEC code compliance and ability to apply it to real-world project scenarios
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-performance, cross-functional environment with minimal supervision
- Agile mindset with a strong desire to learn, innovate, and contribute to the evolution of Tesla’s estimating standards and tools

Expected Compensation
$96,000 - $306,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefitsPay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
