Key qualities and behaviors of a successful leader at Nord Security

Main Responsibilities

  • Lead and grow multiple teams within Threat Intelligence, building teams that consistently deliver and stay motivated;
  • Define clear ownership boundaries between teams so everyone knows exactly what they're accountable for — no work falls into gaps or gets duplicated;
  • Ensure every team's roadmap and priorities are explicitly connected to company-wide vision and goals, not just optimized in isolation within the department;
  • Actively drive alignment with other departments and stakeholders, making sure Threat Intelligence work integrates cleanly with the broader product and company strategy;
  • Champion and drive adoption of AI tools across teams to increase engineering and research efficiency, and continuously look for ways to automate or speed up existing workflows;
  • Build strong operational discipline: teams should "own their turf" — meaning they proactively monitor, catch issues early, and take responsibility for the health of what they build and run;
  • Be personally accountable for team delivery and production stability: if a team misses commitments or a significant production issue slips through, that reflects on the EM's oversight and enablement of the team, not just the individual contributor;
  • Create a motivating environment where people understand the "why" behind priorities and feel ownership over outcomes, not just tasks.

Core Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in engineering management, including experience managing managers or multiple teams simultaneously;
  • Strong track record of building high-ownership, high-accountability teams that reliably deliver — not just technically capable teams, but teams that take responsibility for outcomes;
  • Proven ability to design clear ownership models (e.g., RACI/DACI-style thinking) across multiple teams, avoiding overlaps and gaps in responsibility;
  • Demonstrated ability to translate company-level strategy into team-level priorities, and to keep multiple teams aligned to a shared vision rather than working in silos;
  • Experience driving process improvements, operational rigor, and incident/production ownership practices (e.g., on-call discipline, postmortems, proactive monitoring);
  • Practical experience introducing or scaling AI tools within engineering/research workflows to boost team efficiency;
  • Solid working understanding of software engineering and data-driven systems is expected, but deep computer science expertise (algorithms, low-level systems design) is NOT a requirement for this role;
  • Strong people leadership: hiring, onboarding, professional development, and the ability to explain "why" as clearly as "how";
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and tight deadlines across several workstreams at once;
  • Experience in threat intelligence, cybersecurity, or Internet security domains is a plus, but not mandatory — process and leadership experience matters more here.
