Engineering Manager, Creative Apps

The Creativity Apps team needs your help shaping the next generation of creative editing tools by working on state-of-the-art technologies to surprise and delight creative pros and enthusiasts alike. You’ll be working with the world-class teams behind Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, iMovie, Pixelmator, and GarageBand to create next-generation tools for creators!

Description
In this role, you will directly manage a team of engineers building new intelligent features for Apple's creative application suite. You will partner closely with product, design, and cross-functional teams to plan and deliver polished, innovative features built on UIKit, AppKit, and modern Apple frameworks. Day-to-day, you will balance hands-on technical engagement with first-line people leadership, including hiring, coaching, and growing the engineers on your team.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team of engineers focused on building full stack creative application features across a variety of verticals
- Drive planning, prioritization, and execution across multiple concurrent workstreams, keeping your team focused and unblocked
- Partner with product management and design to translate creative vision into technically sound, scalable engineering plans
- Represent your team's technical decisions in cross-functional reviews and contribute to broader engineering direction within Creator Studio
- Identify and resolve technical risks early, escalating when needed and maintaining a clear view of quality and delivery timelines
- Champion engineering best practices including code quality, testability, and platform fit across your team's codebase
Minimum Qualifications
- 3+ years of engineering management experience with direct responsibility for a team of individual contributor engineers
- Deep expertise in iOS and/or macOS application development using UIKit and/or AppKit
- Proven experience delivering complex, consumer-facing Mac and iOS apps from concept through App Store release
- Strong background in software architecture, app frameworks, and UI systems at production scale
- Track record of building cohesive, high-performing engineering teams in a fast-paced product environment
- Demonstrated ability to drive technical decisions across multiple workstreams with appropriate autonomy
- Proficiency in Swift and/or Objective-C, with a clear sense of what high-quality Apple platform code looks like
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with creative application development, document-based apps, or rich editing experiences on Apple platforms
- Familiarity with on-device machine learning integration or intelligent creative tooling within consumer apps
- Skilled in navigating cross-functional organizations and aligning designers, product managers, and partner engineering teams around a shared technical direction
- Experience contributing to or consuming first-party Apple frameworks, or meaningful knowledge of Apple platform internals
- Prior experience managing engineers through significant platform transitions, such as SwiftUI adoption or framework migrations
Pay & Benefits (Cupertino)
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $206,200 and $356,400, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
