Tesla is seeking a highly motivated Manufacturing Engineering Manager to create, develop, and take on responsibility for state-of-the-art manufacturing processes in one of the most complex and challenging manufacturing environments at Gigafactory Texas.

This specific role is responsible for leading cross-functional teams throughout the manufacturing line lifecycle. This newest member of Manufacturing Engineering will be in lockstep with our Design for Manufacturability team, Product Excellence (Quality), Production Engineering, Production, and New Product Introduction (NPI) to take new manufacturing designs and manufacturing process from initial concept, through prototype development, and into full production. As such, we expect this person to take pride in their hands-on work, analytical ability, organizational skills, and attention to detail. 

Responsibilities

  • Oversee engineering activities from inception to closure, ensuring alignment with manufacturing goals and timelines
  • Drive reductions in CapEx, BOM, and manufacturing costs through innovative processes and operational improvements
  • Mentor the engineering team and collaborate with production, controls, and construction teams
  • Improve Gigafactory Texas operations by refining procedures and troubleshooting equipment installations
  • Maintain detailed process records, develop DFMEA/PFMEA documentation, and validate automation systems
  • Use tools to monitor engineering tasks and personnel activities
  • Present funding requests and production updates to Tesla leadership

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Management, Engineering, or a related discipline preferred
  • 5+ years manufacturing engineering + 3 plus years engineering leadership
  • Data-driven problem solving: root cause analysis, JMP/statistical tools
  • Automated line design: PLC programming, HMI, motion control
  • New equipment/process implementation in production environments
  • High-volume manufacturing experience in key areas: Automated assembly, precision manufacturing, vision systems, Laser processing, welding, battery tech, vacuum systems
  • Poise under pressure: manage competing demands, tight deadlines
