Siemens Mobility is dedicated to pioneering the future of transportation. Our dynamic team is always exploring new ways to drive innovation and efficiency in rail. We are searching for forward-thinkers who are eager to challenge themselves and make a tangible impact. If you are passionate about creating sustainable and intelligent transport solutions, we want you on our team.

In CIS, we deliver Rail Infrastructure systems for customers across the UK and internationally. Our portfolio includes the provision of event driven control and monitoring solutions tailored for Centralised SCADA & Line-wide systems, Stations & Utilities, Power SCADA, Control Systems, Tunnel Ventilation, M&E, and many more. We undertake the full engineering delivery life cycle across various projects.

We have an exciting opportunity to join Siemens Mobility as an Engineering Manager to join our Ashby-de-la-Zouch office. In this role, you’ll lead and govern the engineering delivery of a SCADA Control System across the full lifecycle, from requirements and design through integration, verification, commissioning, acceptance, training and handover. The role ensures the solution meets the defined needs of the client railway and is delivered in accordance with the contract, applicable engineering processes, standards and regulatory requirements.

The role brings together multi-disciplinary engineering teams, project management, client teams, delivery partners and third parties. It ensures competent resources are in place; requirements, assumptions, interfaces, configurations and changes remain controlled; and technical risks, decisions and assurance evidence are managed to support safe, secure and successful delivery.

You’ll make a difference by

  • Leading the engineering scope, lifecycle strategy, plans, priorities and technical decision-making, ensuring alignment with programme milestones, contractual commitments and approved technical baselines
  • Defining the engineering organisation and ensure suitably competent resources, authorities and specialist support are available to deliver successful outcomes
  • Applying robust engineering governance, reviews and assurance, escalating significant technical risks, decisions and dependencies as appropriate
  • Ensuring operational, functional, technical and non-functional requirements, assumptions and constraints are defined, traced, controlled and evidenced through verification, validation and acceptance
  • Providing oversight of system architecture and design development, ensuring decisions are evidence-based, documented and aligned with engineering, safety, quality and cyber security requirements
  • Leading integration of the system across the wider rail infrastructure, ensuring internal, external, functional and physical interfaces are identified, agreed and effectively managed with all stakeholders
  • Maintaining configuration and change control across requirements, designs, software, system configurations and engineering evidence, ensuring appropriate impact assessments are completed prior to approval
  • Providing engineering leadership throughout implementation, integration, testing and commissioning, ensuring issues are prioritised, resolved and incorporated into the controlled baseline.
  • Confirming engineering readiness at lifecycle gates and support progressive acceptance, operational handover, transition into service, and the provision of engineering documentation, system information and training.
  • Acting as the senior engineering interface with clients, delivery partners, suppliers, third parties and Siemens stakeholders, communicating complex engineering matters clearly while promoting collaboration, consistency and continuous improvement.

What you’ll need to succeed

  • Strong practical understanding of systems engineering and the full lifecycle from requirements and design through integration, verification, validation, commissioning, acceptance and handover
  • Experience of requirements and assumptions management, design governance, interface management, configuration management and engineering change control
  • Experience working in a regulated, safety-conscious or similarly controlled environment, with sound understanding of engineering assurance and technical risk management
  • Strong stakeholder leadership, communication and influencing skills across engineering, project, customer and third-party organisations
  • Sound engineering judgement, balancing technical integrity, risk, contractual obligations, programme constraints and operational need
  • SCADA, control systems, operational technology, information or other integrated systems experience (desirable)

Essential requirements:

  • Demonstrable engineering leadership within complex systems, technology or infrastructure programmes; including coordination of multi-disciplinary teams and resources
  • Ability to lead resolution of complex integration issues while engaging appropriate specialist expertise in areas such as safety, cyber security and quality
