EMC Engineer Intern

Overview We are seeking a full-time EMC Engineer Intern at Garmin's U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting with the design and testing of integrated avionics systems for aircraft and performing EMC testing in specialized chambers, working both independently and with cross-functional teams to support FAA certification efforts. Essential Functions Learn how avionics systems are used in the cockpit and explore how different aircraft components communicate with eachother Assist with EMC testing processes and documentation to ensure compliance with required certification is met Study, learn and apply EMC test standards to create test plans and perform certification EMC testing and report generation Help design & troubleshoot integrated avionics systems ranging from simple to complex configurations Coordinate product testing reviews and accept/act on constructive criticism Support software automation and verification efforts Assist with EMC testing activities, including RF immunity and lightning susceptibility testing Follow test procedures to verify product compliance to all applicable regulations and quality guidelines Prepare test data and reports to ensure proposed design meets functional and performance specifications Learn and use software tools and test equipment to formulate and test electronic designs and complete documentation of testing efforts in the required formats Interface with design engineers and factory personnel on the testing of products Basic Qualifications Pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or other related field Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule) Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills Desired Qualifications Outstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5) Familiar with radio frequency equipment Garmin International is an equal opportunity employer.
